Five Lessons Every Kid Should Learn
I honestly believe there are a lot of lessons every kid should learn, but here are five that I’d like to highlight on The Mommy-Files. As parents, we have been given the opportunity to lead and teach our children right from wrong. This doesn’t mean that our children will behave like perfect little angels, but it does mean that we will take an active role in helping them to become the best individuals they can be. Here are five lessons I think every kid should learn:
1 – Friends may come and go, but you’ll always have family. Something I’ve learned in my life is that friends have come in and gone out of my life, but my family has been the most consistent part of my life. My family has helped me and continues to help me through the challenges of life as well as being a means of love and happiness.
2 – Help those who can’t help themselves. This can be through community service, holding a door open for someone, helping carry groceries in, and more.
3 – Don’t do it just because everyone else is doing it. Today, we have media all around with us, sending messages to us left and right. Just like us, our children will encounter peer pressure at some point in their life, whether it’s swearing, doing drugs, drinking alcohol, the list goes on. I want my boys to do what is right and not do something just because everyone else around them is doing it. Living by this will save them from a lot of heartache and help them to learn to make decisions for themselves.
4 – Treat your wife like she’s your treasure. I hope my boys have a happy marriage someday (way far away in the future). I hope that when they are married, each will give his wife the utmost love and respect, complimenting her, romancing her, and supporting her.
5 – Enjoy life, but be safe! Having 3 boys, I’m sure this is going to be challenging. I want them to be happy and count the blessings in their lives. I also want them to enjoy life, but not do anything that might jeopardize their health and well-being. Life is too short to be unhappy.
Those are just five of the things I think every kid should learn. What are some of the things you think every kid should learn?
