Mommy Moments – Life to a One Year Old
It always amazes me how much I forget about each stage in a child’s life (even though I have 3 kids). You forget about the discomfort you may have experienced during pregnancy. You forget about the “true” pains of labor. You forget about each of the stages of development and pure curiosity your child goes through. Each child is like raising a child for the first time (with a little bit of extra knowledge).
I forget that if I leave the toilet lid up, my 1 year old will surely splash around in the water.
I forget what great fun it is to a 1 year old to unroll the toilet paper over and over.
I forget that if I leave a bottle of water sitting on the table, my 1 year old will open it and inevitably pour the water out all over the floor.
I forget that there is always that one drawer my 1 year old will go to and empty over and over and over again.
I forget that if I fold laundry on the floor and make neat piles, my 1 year old will lay on top of them or pull them off the pile one by one.
I forget that even though I say “no,” my 1 year old just doesn’t get it.
I forget that if I say the word “mouth” to my 1 year old while he’s chewing his food, he’ll immediately eject the food out on to whatever surface catches it (be it his shirt or your hand).
I forget that he is 1 and doesn’t know any better.
I forget how much my sweet 1 year old’s hugs and open-mouth kisses mean to me.
I will never forget how important being a mom is to my family and me.
