Youth is the time reserved for having fun and making mistakes, be it wearing a top in the wrong size or makeup that doesn’t do you any favors. But who says older women can’t enjoy the same kind of freedom and experiment with different looks? When you reach middle age, it’s often when you get to rediscover yourself. What worked for you makeup-wise when you were a teenager might not be a good choice when you’re a grown-up woman. But don’t let it stop you. Below we present a list of eye makeup trends you can’t go wrong with. Read on and be ready to become a new you.

1. Cat eye makeup looks

When you age, your skin loses elasticity and becomes drier which means you have to adjust the way you do your makeup. Still, it doesn’t mean you should give up on your favorite trends. Cat eye makeup looks are just as popular now as they were a couple of decades ago. Since aging eyes also mean makeup is likely to smear, you have to opt for an eye pencil instead of eyeliner that will prevent it from turning messy. Alternatively, if you can’t give up on eyeliner’s precision you can apply a makeup primer to ensure lasting eye makeup looks

2. Eyebrows that stand out

Aging means your hair becomes thinner and less visible which is, unfortunately, the case for your eyebrows too. Emphasized eyebrows are the secret to features that stand out. Since filling in eyebrows when your hair is especially thin might be a challenge and eventually make your eyebrows look worse than before, try using a brow gel. It works just like hairspray that fills in all the sparse spots. Just make sure you don’t overdo it.

3. Eyeliner in the corner of your eyes

We all know that big eyes are associated with youthfulness and thanks to makeup, there are many tricks you can try to achieve the illusion. One of the most popular these days is using a white or silver eyeliner in the corner of your eyes. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, you can add a bit of glitter on the top of it or even a sticker. As long as it doesn’t make you look older than you are, makeup has no age limit.

4. Curled eyelashes

Eyelashes are what can make or break a makeup look. If you are a lash technician, you can buy eyelash extension supplies in australia. Curling is a trend that has been around for quite some time but it’s not as popular among older women. Perhaps it’s the lack of knowledge or the belief that even the best makeup tricks can’t hide aging. But believe us when we say that curled eyelashes make such a difference. See for yourself when you get eyelash extensions in Springfield or eyelash extensions in Zionsville, IN. Aging makes your eyelids appear hooded that gives your eyes a heavy look and curling helps open them up.

Pro tip: before you think about curling, make sure you have the right mascara – look for the ones that are smudge-proof. And if you feel like you need a bolder look, don’t be afraid to try false lashes. Make sure they aren’t too heavy and emphasize your eye instead of weighing it down. On top of curled eyelashes, why not also go for eyelash extensions? Leave this up task up to the professionals with their eyelash extension kit.

5. Jewel colored eyeshadows

Aging has another downside – it makes your features fade and result in less color in the eye area. Luckily, this can be easily altered by applying the right eyeshadows. While colors such as bronze and gold might make your eyes look extra tired, bolder colors such as jewel tints work really well with mature skin. The key here is the right application. Make sure you apply a skin-colored eye primer to smoothen the skin and prevent the shadows from smearing. Pro tip: instead of using glimmery eyeshadows, opt for matte. Matte won’t emphasize the creases on your lids while allowing you to achieve a bold eye makeup look.

Summing up

While aging makes you mindful of how you apply makeup, don’t let it discourage you. You can still enjoy a variety of eye makeup looks that emphasize your features and make you look and feel younger. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try out some trends from this list.
