Can you believe it’s already time for the kids to go back to school? This summer flew by!! With kids going back to school comes lots of activities and planning. With a big family like ours, that can be quite the challenge – especially with kids going to 3 different schools!
Over the years, I’ve loved the opportunity to work from home full-time as a blogger and consultant. Not only do I have flexible hours, but I also get to go on field trips with my kids and their school, as well as help out their teachers and volunteer for class and school activities. 5 Ways to Organize a Class Party
1 – Theme. The first thing is to determine the theme of the party. Parties are not always around holidays (although those are some of favorites), but may also be around important school dates (i.e. 100 Days of School, etc.). One of my favorite parties to help with was a Halloween Party with our youngest son’s Kindergarten Class!
2 – Class Stats. It’s super important to find out more about the class. Questions include: How many students are in the class? Are there food allergies? What is the time frame for the party? Are their limited foods? Does the teacher want to focus on anything in particular?
3 – Food. When I think class party, I think of food, games to win real money and activities. Don’t feel like you have to bring all of the food, but coordinate with other parents on what to bring. At the Halloween party, snacks included string cheese, goldfish crackers and grapes. The kids also had cookies to decorate and eat! Woo hoo! You might want to look at places to dine with your little ones too, like the best downtown restaurant in Roswell as a great food spot.
4 – Games. Thanks to Pinterest, finding games for parties has become a piece of cake. Be sure you have all the items you need to play the game, as well as extras of items in the case some become lost or broken. 5 – Activities. Based on the party, you’ll want to have a few fun activities as well. For our class Halloween Party, the kids loved making their Pumpkin Paper Bag Puppets. Arts and crafts go over well with kids, especially with a theme or holiday. I was a room mother in every one of my children’s classes all through school. Granted they were not always in public school. Health issues of my daughter created the need for her to be homeschooled some of the time.

These are great! As a middle school teacher, it’s always nice when parents try their best to help out and organize the parties themselves, it’s definitely going to lighten the workload for me.
It is always great to have someone from the other side of the line chime in with their views. Sometimes I don’t think teachers get the credit they deserve. Anything someone could do to help would be such an amazing thing for so many teachers.

I can’t believe it’s time fro school already!! GAH!! It seems like kids were just getting out a couple of weeks ago. I don’t have kids but I do know that around here we can’t bring baked goods because of potential allergies.
Great advice. The class stats are so important. It seems like 1-2 in 5 kids in our classes always have some type of allergy. It’s best to be safe and considerate.
This looks like a really awesome app. I think the best thing to keep in mind when organizing a class party is special diets and allergies. That way, we let parents and other organizers stay clear of food that may pose a medical emergency. SignUp.com would be a great way to communicate and make any class party a success.
Very great tips! I remember a friend before, she prepared for the entire class, only to find out, the kids are not allowed to eat sweet ice cream cakes, so they brought home everything.

Learning a classes “stats” are vital nowadays. It seems like there are more and ore food allergies these days that can cause a lot of harm.
Class parties sound like so much fun! I love a party with a theme. As a teacher in the UK, we only really have a Christmas party day and a couple of school discos throughout the year. Would love to do some more.
