Mommy-Files Case Number 1
You have an 11 month old baby. He was awake all night long crying the night before. Nothing you could do would help him feel better. You gave him Tylenol – check. You tried nursing him to sleep – check. You checked his diaper – check. You take him to the doctor the next morning and find out your poor little guy has an ear infection.
You pick up the meds and give him his daily dose – check. You give him more Tylenol before bed – check. Two hours later, he’s awake, crying and with a fever. You try nursing him to sleep, wondering if it is possible to be over-exhausted. He falls asleep for 10 minutes and is awake again. You bring him to bed and nurse him to sleep again. Just as you shut your eyes and are ready to sleep, he starts squirming and arching his back and whining (loudly). You take him out of the room so you don’t wake your husband who has to get up super early the next morning.
Your 11 month old is now wide awake and nothing you do will put him to sleep. You have to be awake in 4 hours to prepare breakfast and lunch.
How do you get through the day without passing out from exhaustion? Can you help me solve this Mommy-File – case number 1?
