This year, I turned 39 years old and my amazing husband surprised me with a visit to the Sycamore Mineral Springs in Avila Beach, California. I’d been to the Oasis before – this is a pool filled with warm mineral springs water – but had never been to the hillside hot tubs and had wanted to for quite some time. I was so excited when he said we were going to dinner and that he had made a reservation for us to have our own private hot tub on the hillside. What a great birthday surprise!!!

When going to the Sycamore Mineral Springs in Avila Beach, California, I highly recommend calling a few days in advance to make a reservation. Since it is a high tourism area, the time slots fill up rather quickly. In fact, when I called on a different time, I was directed to a voicemail that said they were completely booked. When a customer service rep answered, they told me that they are fully booked almost every day of the year and that they have reservations open up about a month ahead of time, so it’s super helpful if you can plan accordingly. Crazy, right?? We were so lucky to get in when we did!!!

When we pulled into the parking lot, we parked our car (free parking – yay!) and walked into the main registration area, which is also where the store is located. In the store, you’ll find a variety of items, including food, drinks, towels, souvenirs and more. When we walked in, we checked in at the register and paid for our hour of time in the hot tub, as well as snacks and drinks. The cashier asked for a driver’s license and held on to it until we checked out. He gave us a map and circled the name of the hot tub we had reserved.

Walking out of the store, we saw a well-lit walkway with lots of pretty plants on both sides. It was such a pretty sight to see the private hot tubs on the hill…and it was a long way up the stairs to get to our hot tub! Our hot tub was located at Atlantis.

After you walk up the wooden stairs, there is a concrete walkway leading to wooden stairs that take you up to the hot tub. Once you walk through the swinging doors, you’ll see a bench where you can set your belongings, as well as hooks to hang up your clothes. You can even lock the doors to ensure privacy in your hot tub as well.

It was a long and steep walk, but once we were there, it was so peaceful and relaxing. There were even turkeys in the treetops above us. And don’t worry…none of them pooped on us – ha ha!

At the Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort, there are 23 open-air, naturally heated mineral spring hot tubs lining the beautiful and peaceful tree-canopied hillside. Each hot tub is surrounded by a beautiful, rich wood fence with lattice detail, which ensures privacy from other guests while still providing majestic views and a calm and peaceful environment. The hot tubs San Antonio made it look more comfortable, and I am thinking of having this at home.

The naturally heated mineral spring water at Sycamore is sourced from over 100 acres of natural, underground resources. When you slip into the hot tub, you immediately feel the water’s soothing effects. It’s so relaxing! The minerals found in the water occur naturally and vary in levels from tub to tub. These minerals include Sulfur, Boron, Magnesium, Potassium and Sodium. Sulfur – known as “nature’s beauty mineral” – is found in every cell in our bodies as a component of three different amino acids. It’s most concentrated in keratin, which gives you strong hair, nails and skin. Our bodies also need it to make collagen, which preserves skin elasticity for a young appearance. Boron helps build muscle mass, increase brain activity, and strengthens bones. Magnesium converts blood sugar to energy and promotes healthy skin. Potassium helps to normalize heart rhythms, reduce high blood pressure, and eliminate body toxins. Sodium helps alleviate arthritic symptoms and stimulate the body’s lymphatic system.

Sitting in a hot tub is also called hydrotherapy and there are actually therapeutic benefits! Heat, buoyancy, and massage work together to help create a relaxing and health-packed experience. Soaking in a hot tub can help relieve join and muscle pain, reduce stress, and improve sleep.

The hillside hot tubs are open to the public and reserved individually by the hour. Hot tubs can accommodate anywhere from two to eight people, while the Oasis Waterfall Lagoon can accommodate up to 20. The rates are different on the weekend than the week. On Monday through Thursday, it is $15 per person, per hour. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the rate is $20 per person, per hour. You can also rent towels for $3.00 per person.

If you’ve never been to the hot tubs at Sycamore Mineral Springs, I highly recommend it! I also recommend bringing your own towel so you don’t have to pay to rent one. For the ladies, I recommend going into the hot tubs without makeup on. It’s very warm in the hot tub and you’ll find yourself sweating. It’s not a fun experience to have makeup dripping into your eyes while in the hot tub, so take that makeup off! Take in the beauty around, relax and enjoy yourself at the hot tubs at Sycamore Mineral Springs.

That’s very interesting. Here on the east coast we have visited Saratoga Spa State Park, which has mineral “tasting” springs. It basically tastes like baking soda mixed with water, and it’s awful! But fun, nonetheless. They talk about all the benefits of the minerals just like at the springs you visited – supposed to be very good for the skin!
