The Grand at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico Review
Accommodations were provided at The Grand at Moon Palace Resort. All opinions are mine.
A few weeks ago, Frank and I headed to the beautiful city of Cancun, Mexico for a week. I had been to Cancun once before for a FAM trip I was invited to attend where I visited Moon Palace. I was actually dating Frank at the time, but he was unable to get time off to go and it was quite expensive for him to purchase roundtrip airfare. I remember really wishing he was there with me and wanting to go back to the Palace Resorts property someday with him. I was so excited that this wish came true and it was more amazing than I ever remember! Here is our review of the Grand at Moon Palace resorts Cancun.
We took a taxi to get to The Grand at Moon Palace. Upon entering the property, we had to give the guard our name and he checked to verify we were actually on the list. Once he found our names, he motioned for the driver to enter. Immediately upon seeing this, I felt very safe and secure knowing that not just anyone could enter the property.
Once we entered through the gates, we discovered just how big the Palace Resorts site was. It was huge! In fact, there are actually different resorts on the property. We were staying at The Grand at Moon Palace and it was gorgeous!
When we pulled up, the bellman was ready and waiting for our arrival. He opened our car doors and welcomed us. Then they brought us both a refreshing face cloth and gave me a pretty purple flower. I was really excited about the flower because I had never been welcomed with a flower at a hotel (outside of visiting Hawaii where they give you the flower leis). Plus, I loved that the flower was purple (my favorite color). I literally felt like a princess. It was a great way to start our stay at The Grand at Moon Palace!
The staff helped us take our luggage in and we headed to the desk to check in. At The Grand at Moon Palace, you will receive a bracelet. You must keep this bracelet on the entire time during your stay at the resort and if you lose it, there is a fee to replace it. Upon checking out, you must return the bracelet to the registration desk. The bracelet indicates you are a guest of the resort and can walk throughout The Grand at Moon Palace, as well as enjoy the all-inclusive drinks and foods. Guests staying at other parts of the resort even pay to be able to spend time at The Grand at Moon Palace!
After checking in, we talked with one of the staff members and learned a little more about the property. Then we headed to lunch at the Grand Buffet. We were pretty hungry and wanted to eat before heading to our room. It was nice because they have a room at the entrance where they held on to our luggage until we were done eating. This is also great if people arrive to check in before their room is ready and want to wander around the property. Before heading to the restaurant, I went into the bathroom and it was amazing! It was so huge and pretty and of course, I had to take a picture!
The Grand Buffet was pretty big and had a lot of different food options. I chose to have freshly cooked salmon and it was so good! They also had sushi, spring rolls, salad, sliders, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and other meats you could have the chef grill up right in front of you. Then there was dessert! There was cake, cheesecake, ice cream and more! Plus, because The Grand at Moon Palace is an all-inclusive resort, you can get top shelf alcoholic drinks at no additional charge, so we both had Coronas with lime with our lunches.
After we ate lunch, we headed to the lobby to pick up our luggage. A bellman put our luggage on a cart and walked us to our room. One thing I will say about the Moon Palace is that their staff members are so friendly and helpful and it really makes it a great experience.
We stayed in the Grand Deluxe Suite with a Garden View and it was gorgeous! I was really excited to see that there was a double whirlpool tub in it as well! One thing I love to use when I travel is the hot tub (and not a lot of hotels have them). It was a great room!
After taking pictures and checking out our room, we decided to explore the property. We didn’t make it too far when we discovered an adult pool nearby. We sat down, ordered a drink and just relaxed. We actually ended up visiting this pool a few times during our stay!
After relaxing for a while, we decided to explore some more. We actually found another pool area (kid-friendly), which had a few pools! Man, did they make some killer Malibu Bay Breezes – like drinking juice – and unlimited as it’s an all-inclusive resort. At this pool area, there was a large cement area where they were playing BINGO with families.
After hanging out at the pool for a little while, we walked around and explored The Grand at Moon Palace a little more. There is a beach there, but we didn’t spend too much time there. On the beach were couches and lots of loungers!
For dinner, we decided to order room service and hang out in our gorgeous room. Let me tell you…the bed and pillows were so comfortable! I didn’t want to leave!!! The next morning, we had breakfast in the Grand Buffet and then headed to the coffee bar in the main building. There we ordered coffee (again included) and some delicious crepes. The crepes were so good! We had jam on ours.
After our meal, we strolled through the main building of The Grand at Moon Palace and stumbled upon the Wired Teen Lounge. It was filled with all sorts of amenities, including arcade games, air hockey, food, and more.
Both of us wanted to go hang out at the pool again, but I really wanted to see if they had a different bathing suit I could wear. I was so excited to find such a pretty one! In fact, this is my favorite bathing suit I’ve worn since having kids. I felt comfortable and gorgeous in it at the same time.
After getting my new, pretty bathing suit (hee hee), we headed to the Adult Pool. We ordered drinks and after about 30 minutes, it started raining. We then moved into a cabana that was complete with lights, a fan, and a table and chairs. The staff was so kind and helped move two lounger chairs in for us. After the rain let up for a few minutes, I headed to the Taco Stand and ordered some Street Tacos. They were delicious!!! While it was raining a good part of the day, we still enjoyed relaxing in the cabana (and I didn’t have to worry about sunburns)!!!
When we got back to our room, I wanted to take advantage of the Double Whirlpool Tub. It was amazing! I really wish I could have packed it up and taken it home with me. It was oh so relaxing! From our room, it started pouring outside!
The next day, it really poured! We had wanted to explore the resort some more (like the water park they have), but decided to stay in because it was really raining hard and did so for most of the day. We spent a lot of the time in the hotel room, ordering room service, working on our laptops, watching movies and just hanging out and relaxing. I loved being able to order room service whenever we got hungry. Their pasta was so yummy! For our last dinner on the property, we decided to go Italian and eat at Tavola. It was our favorite restaurant on the property! We ordered Florentine Salad and Caprese Salad to start off with and they were delicious! And for dinner, Frank ordered the Roberta Pizza with salami, pepperoni, Italian sausage and fresh prosciutto and I ordered the Riggatoni 4 Formaggio – a pasta with a white cream sauce and four cheeses. It was really rich and yummy! For dessert, we ordered the Fresh Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie topped with Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce. Oh my gosh – so decadent! My mouth is watering just writing about it and looking at the picture. This was a really good restaurant!
Our last night was bittersweet. Mainly because I was really missing our kids, but also because I loved our stay at The Grand at Moon Palace. I hope to return again someday with our 6 kids and would love to check out their resort in Jamaica someday. A big thanks to The Grand at Moon Palace for our stay and a wonderful experience.

Look at you with your rebranding and traveling, and relaxing! I love it! I can not WAIT to travel out of the country with my husband, so far, it’s just been me. We are in dire need of a vacation that’s full of relaxation and something to kind of make us sit still! You all look like you had a BLAST!

Also does the hotel furnish complimentary shampoo,soap,lotion ,conditioner?
The dress code is pretty casual although I would encourage you to call the steakhouse beforehand to confirm. When we called the steakhouse, they said for men – no shorts, open toe shoes (like flip flops) and no sleeveless shirts.
Yes – they also provided shampoo, soap, lotion and bubble bath if you have one with the double whirlpool tub. Have fun! 🙂

Cancun in Mexico is a place I would love to visit some day. My niece and her fiance had just vacationed there about 2 months ago. The Grand Moon Palace Resort I would love to stay at for sure. Thanks for sharing your amazing time in Cancun.

That resort looks so relaxing. I would love to visit Cancun. Most people suggest booking an all inclusive resort unless you don’t eat or drink very much. The pools look inviting too. Too bad it rained on your trip.

This sounds like the most beautiful resort! I love Cancun, there’s so much to do and see – I’m actually planning a girls trip to Riviera Maya this summer so we may need to stop in Cancun too haha!

What an awesome place to stay! The hotel lobby looks so majestic! The rooms, the pool, the beach and the food! OMG. The food looks so delicious! I will find a way to go to Cancun and stay in that hotel. Talk about pomp, luxury, and pure relaxation!
Mexico was our go-to vacation before kids. It’s been forever since we’ve been back, but this looks awesome! The resort has the perfect balance of activity and relaxation.
It’s so nice to go to places like this! I love being able to hang out by the beach and just soak in the sun during the summer! What a lovely vacation spot!
