Protect Your Identity with LifeLock

I’ve had a LifeLock subscription for quite some time…and love it! Anytime I apply for a credit card (among other things), I receive notifications that an attempt was made. This is great to know, especially when it affects my credit score. I also receive notifications if my credit score changes and even if a registered sex offender moves to our area. Imagine how scary it would be if someone attempted to use your identity…and you didn’t even know about it!

Are you aware of the recent Anthem security breach, which could affect as many as 80 million customers??!!! A data breach occurs when confidential information, like your Social Security number, credit card number or health information, is exposed or accessed by an unauthorized person. Studies show that individuals who receive a data breach notification letter are more than four times as likely to become victims of identity theft.

LifeLock can help. The new LifeLock Ultimate Plus program offers several new activity alerts that add peace of mind against identity fraud in a digitally connected world. You can learn more about how data breaches occur HERE.

How can you protect yourself in the event a security breach has taken place? LifeLock suggests looking for evidence that your Social Security number has been misused. Remember, this may not happen today or next week. Often times, once a criminal has your information, they can sit on it for a long time (months or even years) before trying to use it. In some cases, they may sell it to other criminals. You’ll find more information in this brochure from the Social Security Administration.

Lifelock is a great service! Be sure to protect your identity with LifeLock today!
