The holidays are filled with family, friends, food, shopping and sometimes headaches.  Yes, I said headaches.  With all the cooking, cleaning, shopping and entertaining that goes into the holidays, headaches can come on rather quickly.  The makers of Excedrin® Extra Strength invite you to “Take a Holiday from Headaches” by following these simple steps, provided by Dr. Keri Peterson, M.D. to help avoid your triggers:

– Stick to your regular routine.  Eating, sleeping and exercising as you do the rest of the year can help reduce the chances of getting a headache/migraine. *

– Manage your time and plan ahead. Coordinate plans and responsibilities in advance with relatives and friends, compose set menus when hosting a party and try to purchase gifts early so you’re not rushing at the last minute*

– Stay in ventilated spaces. As you browse through the mall, watch out for those scented candles or perfume if you are sensitive to smells**

– Eat and drink in moderation. Eat, drink, and be merry, but try not to consume sweets or alcoholic beverages in excess, as they could trigger headaches **

Holiday time can also mean lots of traveling, so be sure to carry Excedrin® Extra Strength with you when you’re on the go for fast relief should a headache or migraine strike.

    I commented on this post–http://www.themommy-files.com/2013/12/monk-fruit-in-the-raw-coconut-meringue-cookie-recipe/

  2. The biggest headaches that I get from the Holidays is getting all the food and desserts prepared with less time! It gives me a headache!

  3. The stress of figuring out all my work is usually the biggest headache. It’s not about presents. It’s about wrapping things up so that I can spend time with my family. I work from home and that’s not easy, especially when you have a job that has you working 24 hours a day 7 days before Christmas.

  4. The crowds of people and in turn the traffic, long lines to buy and return at stores and just overall noise drives me nuts during the holiday season.

  5. My biggest headache was when my step daughter came to see us over the Holidays, turns out she’s allergic to my cats. How was I to know?

  6. Jodie Rosenblum

The smell of my neighbors smoking outside gives me headaches-and it happens a lot more around the holidays.

  7. Patrice Roussell

Well, the hussle and bussle of the holidays. Cleaning up, cooking and entertaining just to clean up again. ha! Worth it but I do get some headachs.

  8. It seems like everything always has to be done the same day. For instance, a church party, my husband’s cookie exchange at work, the last day goodies can shipped to family in time to get there before Christmas, but still be tasty ON Christmas… Thank you for the giveaway!

  9. I always seem to have my period during the holidays! Between being exhausted and the ruckus argh what a headache.

  10. Definitely the stress of traveling and the unpredictability of winter weather that can throw a wrench into plans (which luckily I avoided this year but usually it’s high anxiety in the days leading up to departure!).

  11. I am not good when there are places over crowded and I also do not like it when things do not work out as I had planned

  12. Finances are my biggest holiday headache. Not only buying the gifts, but car insurance is due just after the holidays. Ugh.

  13. Having to do all the shopping, wrapping, baking, cooking, cleaning gives me quite a headache! I love it, but it gets stressful.

  14. My headaches come from lines and crowds in stores.

My biggest headache during the holidays is just trying my best to stay on budget and still get each one of the kids something nice!

  16. rayray cartucci

Honestly for me it is the cold weather. I have something called Trigeminal Neuralgia and it flares up in the cold.

  17. People thinking I was nicer to somebody else or gave them better/more stuff and assuming it means I like them more too

  18. I always host everything… from parties, holidays, birthdays, you name it…. this holiday season was rough, we moved out of state 2 weeks before Christmas, and I love everything decorated, lots of food, clean house and everything… we pulled it off and had a blast, my daughter had a birthday a few days later, then new years…. it’s stressful, but it’s OVER until the next event!

  19. Virginia Rowell

My biggest headache is definitely the shopping. I am not a shopper and this is about the only time I go. It is very stressful for me, so I have to have my kids help me.

  20. Wrapping presents gives me a headache. I am just terrible at it, it looks like something a 2 year old might wrap when I am done. Now if my daughter doesn’t wrap it then, it comes in a bag 🙂

  21. The thing that causes me the biggest headaches during the holiday season is the buying of the Christmas gifts

    pattifritz2000 at yahoo dot com
    thank you

  22. The biggest headache for me is trying to juggle trips to the relatives. Also the crowds at the malls and the way people act when they are shopping around the holidays.

  23. Definitely the shopping. I’m not a big shopper to begin with, and there’s always more crowds and seemingly less time to get it all done!

  24. The anxiety really gets my headaches going. I worry way too much about if they’ll like the gift, what kind of food to get, etc.

  25. the fact that places are busier and so more people than ever feel the need to touch my infant…strangers….some have even kissed my baby on the head…thats not right

  26. Christmas is easy for me. So, there’s no headaches. We focus on the celebration and not on present giving. So, I don’t have to deal with crowds, lines, etc. Anyway, we have everything we need, and we’re thankful for what we have.

  27. The biggest headaches are the crazy drivers out there and there are some crazy ones out there. Thanks for this awesome sweep 🙂

  28. the biggest headache for me is trying to balance all the demands on my time without getting exhausted and then sick

  29. The thing that annoys me is all the people that complain during the holidays when there are people worse off.

  30. I get headaches from trying to please everyone at family get togethers and finding the perfect presents for friends and family.

  31. My biggest headaches re caused by gift wrap! I always wait until the last minute and have to stay up wrapping until the wee hours.

  32. Stephanie Gossett

I give myself headaches by worrying about things too much! I need to relax and be easier on myself.

  33. The stress of family and making sure everything is ready and perfect always gives me a headache around the holidays.

  34. My biggest headache during the holiday are presents. I want to get awesome gifts, but often run out of time to shop.

  35. Probably the worry of my kids being too annoying to family members (especially those that are a bit older)… I have three kids 🙂

  36. The holidays are over – but my headache comes from my job, it is health-related, so I don’t get any time off 🙁

  37. My biggest holiday headache is finding the perfect gift for everyone on my list. and dealing with the crowds at the store.

  38. Sandy Klocinski

My body is used to being home watching the news at 6 o’clock and instead I’m out shopping. I stay up to party or to wrap gifts. My routine is totally disrupted. Makes me tired and cranky

  39. Financial stress gives me headaches. We have a super large family, between my husband and I we have 12 siblings and 32 nieces and nephews and many other various relatives and we see every one of them during the holidays which means we should have a gift for each and every one. We do our best, shop year round and save gifts for Xmas, look for bargains, and make homemade gifts, but it’s still very overwhelming

  40. Good morning Shannon 🙂 The thing that creates the biggest headache for me during the holidays is cooking the huge meal the day of our celebration & making me tired & am exhausted when it comes time to sit and enjoy the family. I need to make some of the dishes a colder served version so I can prep them days before. I usually focus on all hot dishes. But could do make ones like slaws, potatoes salad, Watergate salad for desserts etc & it would lighten my load. Thanks & Happy Holidays 🙂

  41. My biggest headaches are from stress that relapses other health issues. It’s a domino effect. The stress is usually from money and time constraints.

  42. I wish there was more time between Thanksgiving and Christmas – I’m not up for decorating, meal planning, wrapping, etc until a few weeks have passed… which means I only have a few weeks to do it all 😛

  43. The biggest headache for me is all of the shopping for gifts and food for the get togethers. I always have a hard time buying for certain people so finding the right gift is always hard. Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway!

  44. OMG the headache came from the christmas lights! Apparently you cant plug 10 strands in together without blowing a fuse every other day!

  45. I think running back and forth between a million family members gives me a headache. Sometimes I just want to relax!

  46. The biggest headache for me during the holidays is thinking about everything that I need to do before the big day. This year I am starting early…LOL

  47. My biggest headache is finding gifts that everyone will appreciate, and not just put aside. Because it would be a waste of money.. for sure. Then trying to organize my annual Christmas eve. Get together!…not to mention a one income household trying to come up with the fibances for all of this. I start early an plan well. But its never enough.

  48. The biggest headaches I get is when I feel that I haven’t gotten enough gifts for the family. I have a huge family and it’s always tough to try to find the perfect gift for everyone.

  49. The biggest headaches come from shopping in very dry air stores trying to find the perfect gift – brain over load and headache from being tired.

  50. all the noise from a house full of people and hearing my wife go crazy trying to get everything ready for the family coming over!

  51. I had a stillborn son in Dec 2009. My holiday headache is trying is make sure everyone else is having a great time while dealing with my own loss. I don’t like to bring everyone else down.

  52. The thing that causes me the biggest headaches during the holidays is trying to find the time to get everything done (i.e. presents bought and wrapped, cookies and candies made, party arrangements finalized). Thanks.

  53. My biggest headache during the holidays are the lavish meals, the millions of things that need to be done and the exorbitant amount of money all spent/prepared over a short period of time.

  54. I think the biggest headache during the holidays is the stress. Making sure you get the right gift for everyone, staying up late wrapping things….

  55. Looking at it knowing you are spending way more then you should, but the joy of thinking how happy it will make the person.

  56. trying to figure out what to buy those who have everything or who are hard to buy for, so frustrating and give me a headache stressing over it

  57. working as a church office manager i am quite busy at work, feel very stressed trying to make time to get things ready and enjoy the holiday with my family, not just my church family

  58. I work in a very “busy” area, so the extra holiday traffic (especially when I am going home) gives me headaches.

  59. what vreates my biggest stres problem is my wife making me go to all the families for the holidays..i enjoy it but i dont like being there all day long.i like to go to my own home and enjoy my own family and relax for some of the holidays and my time off work.i dont want to travel and be with 20 ppl all the time.it is the most time i get off from work all year.i want to relax and chill out

  60. The stresses and price of everything combined: shopping, traveling, baking, etc. Gives me a migraine just thinking about it

  61. The biggest headache is the shopping, the cleaning, and the cooking getting ready for the BIG holiday dinners that are always at our house.

  62. The stress and lack of sleep from trying to get everything that needs to be done and everyone where they need to be is what gives me a headache during the holidays.

    jweezie43[at]gmail[dot]com

  63. Crazy drivers at the mall cause me the biggest headaches during the holidays. Thank you for the fabulous giveaway!
    fairyfractal at gmail dot com

  64. Thanks for the giveaway…I always get a headache when traveling via commercial airlines during the holidays i.e. crowded airports / planes, etc.

  65. Beverly Metcalf

It’s sometimes stressful for me during the holidays when I have a lot to do and not enough time to get it all done. Thanks for having this contest.

  66. The biggest headache is trying to appease family members. It is to the point that I just want to be with my immediate family- and other family members can stop the pressure.

  67. The biggest headache for me is getting the decorations down from the attic. After that, it’s worrying about my family since they all live where ice is king during winter months.

  68. Most of my headaches over the holidays comes from me stressing out about not having enough time to get everything in (shopping, decorating, baking, cooking, wrapping). I’m relieved when Christmas is over.
