AT&T Mobile Safety School + $50 VISA Gift Card Giveaway

I love my phone….and so do my kids!  Yes, we use it for social media and to play games, but we also use our phones to communicate with family and friends.  Whether it’s communicating through voice or text, my cell phone has essentially become a member of our family.  I remember how excited I was to have a phone in the beginning that fit perfectly in my pocket.  Now, I couldn’t imagine being without a phone that didn’t have GPS, text messaging capabilities, or the internet!

Today’s technology allows families to be more connected than ever, but it also brings about new issues that can’t be ignored – bullying, privacy, texting while driving and more.  AT&T developed this program to provide tips, tools and resources for parents to help their families stay connected and stay safe.

AT&T is hosting a Mobile Safety School virtual webinar next week – October 23rd, 24th, and 25th.  The webinars will cover different safety topics by kids’ ages:

–       October 23rd – Kids ages 8-11
–       October 24th – Kids ages 12-14
–       October 25th – Kids ages 15-17

I am excited to announce an awesome giveaway to all of you!

  1. I make sure and tell my daughter, who is 10, that she should NEVER answer a phone call or text that she doesn’t recognize. I’m scared of some weirdo finding out that a 10 year old girl has her own phone. Creeps.

I never give out personal information to ppl I dont know,,espically credit card number an ss numbers an I dont answer calls that doenst show whos calling

  3. I PREACH to our kids, who are teens, not to answer or even look at a text that comes in while they are driving! I only hope my hysteria over that issue sticks with them enough for them to show some patience and pull over.

    Thanks!

  4. One safety tip is to never answer a phone call from a number you don’t recognize. If it’s important, they will leave a message and you’ll be able to know then if it’s someone you need to talk to or not. Also, never give out personal information over the phone.

  5. My child is younger than those groups listed – I hope I can still enter. Our only “safety” tip so far is not to press buttons on the phone LOL

  6. One mobile tip is no texting and driving or even taking calls when driving- I know of 2 people killed and one amputee due to texting.

  7. Tell them to never answer texts from a number they dont know, or answer calls from numbers they don’t know. Also don’t make arrangements to meet with anyone via text, always over the phone.

  8. Put the phone in the glove box when I get in the car to drive so not tempted to text/pick up phone to talk when driving till I get to my destination

We stress the importance of hands-on driving. I have someone else answer my phone or text if I’m behind the wheel.

  10. I tell them if the phone rings or beeps when driving just to ignore and if they have to make a phone call to pull over and make it

  11. My tips is to keep reminding my children to to share photos with strangers and only shared photos that they would not mind me or their grandparents seeing.

  12. My kids will only answer the phone if they recognize the number, change their passwords often, never use the phone while driving, and do not download apps without check with me first. I always “check” their phones foe inappropriate text messages too. That’s a big one! 🙂

  13. Everyone in our family texts either my husband or myself before leaving to go anywhere, and after we get to our destination. This gives us peace of mind, and monitoring each other’s whereabouts helps keep us safe.

  14. we avoid logging into our bank accounts when we are logged into wifi, esp. in a public location, for fear of our passwords being intercepted
