Back-to-School Shopping and Elmer’s #BagItForward Mission
Can you believe the new school year is just around the corner? I remember how exciting it was getting ready for school when I was young! Back-to-school shopping included new shoes, new clothes, and new school supplies. Well, I can say that my boys are just as excited for the start of school as I was when I was their age. However, this year was a little bit different. Not only did we buy their school supplies, but we participated in the #BagItForward Mission with Elmer’s and Collective Bias and donated some school supplies to the boys’ cousins. They were all so excited to get these new school supplies and it felt good to see the excitement and happiness on their faces, as well as their parents’.
We were visiting my cousin and went shopping at the local Walmart. It was refreshing to visit a Walmart other than my own local Walmart. We purchased all sorts of goodies at discounted prices, including scissors, markers, Elmer’s school glue, Elmer’s glue sticks, crayons, pencil boxes, and more! Not only did we purchase school supplies, but we checked out the Elmer’s 1st Day App. It’s pretty cool!
So, what is the 1st Day App? Well, we all know that the 1st day of school is a big day for kids (and the parents). However, with all of the excitement, it can be easy to lose sight of the little moments that make it so special – and before you know it, your cautious first grader has become a confident high school senior (**pardon me as my eyes tear up just thinking about it**).
With the 1st Day App, you can capture school memories for FREE, as it lets you take photos, create slideshows, and share with family and friends. Year after year, you can watch your children grow and change, but the 1st Day App will help you hold on the First Day memories forever. You can download the app either by scanning the code on displays at your local Walmart (found in the back-to-school section) or by visiting the1stday.com/walmart. Not only is the app an awesome tool to use to document the memories of your child’s first day back to school, but you will be helping someone else in need while you use it. How, you ask? For each photo uploaded, Elmer’s will donate one product to the Kids in Need Foundation (KINF) (up to 200,000 products).
For our donations, we chose the boys’ cousins. They were very excited to receive their school supplies and even opened up all of the boxes and organized them. In their #BagItForward kits, we included Elmer’s School Glue, Elmer’s Glue Sticks, Scissors, Markers, Crayons, Pencil Box, and Notebooks. The boys were really excited to give the supplies to them as well! You can follow Elmer’s on Facebook and Twitter, as well as Bag It Forward on Pinterest.
