On Day 2 of my birthday trip in 2011, we had the opportunity to go to Universal Studios Hollywood and it was SO much fun!  We parked in the Universal Studios parking structure and hiked through Universal City Walk, which was filled with so many great stores and restaurants.  If you are ever in the area, you should definitely check out Universal City Walk!

On our way into Universal Studios, we took a picture by the spinning globe with the fountain.  We also had our pictures taken on the “Red Carpet,” which was kind of cool.  For a second, you imagine how the stars feel as they’re walking with their beautiful gowns and sexy tuxedos on the Red Carpet to movie premieres or award ceremonies.  It’s a fun thing to do!

In addition to our passes, we received an extra perk – Front of the Line Passes!  Front of the Line Passes are definitely something you want to invest in during the busier seasons.  It was awesome to go to the front of the line for all of the rides, especially attractions such as the Studio Tour, the Simpsons Ride, and the Revenge of the Mummy Ride.

The first thing we did when we made it through the gates was the Studio Tour.  Let me tell you, it was much different, but just as good, as I remember it was when I was a kid.  One of the main differences that stood out to me was the King Kong section of the ride.  I remember the actual King Kong robot versus the 3D presentation now on the Tour.  Due to a large fire, Universal Studios had to rebuild a big section of the Tour and King Kong was part of it.  The 3D part is pretty cool.  Oh and expect to get a little bit of water sprayed at you here and there.

Here is the old New York Set.

Then we have the set for Back to the Future.

Not sure what happened to this Tram!

Here are the Fast and the Furious cars.  They dance!  It’s pretty dang cool!

Then we have the Flash Flood!  It’s still as cool as ever!

Jaws is still a big part of the Tour!

I really loved the set for Desperate Housewives!  It’s one of my favorite television shows, so it was really cool to see the houses in real life.

Then you had the set for War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.  That one was a little creepy to me – with the crashed plane and debris everywhere.  It will still pretty cool to see it in real life on the tour.

When you go to Universal Studios, you  have to go on The Simpsons Ride.  It is so much fun!  Oh and when you get ready to go into Maggie’s mouth (you’ll know what I’m talking about when you’re on the ride), look for the smell of baby powder.  It’s a trip!

One of my favorite rides is Revenge of the Mummy- The Ride.  It’s a roller coast in the dark, that goes forward AND backward!  It’s a ton of fun and will have you screaming for sure!

I received complimentary Press Passes to gain admission into Universal Studios for this review.  All opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.

How fun! This just made me realize that the last time I went to Universal was in high school. I bet it’s so different now. Do they still have the ET and Jurassic Park rides? I didn’t even know they have a Simpsons ride. Can’t wait to take my girls there someday 🙂

  3. I’ve been to California once for our 5th wedding anniversary (Bill won me a trip to see the Soap Opera Awards) and we went to Universal Studios and had such a great time.
It looks like you did, too.
What are you going to do THIS year to top that trip????

  4. Cindy Brooks says:

I haven’t been to Universal Studios in about 15 years. I think it’s time to go again! The thing I remember the most is the Jurassic Park ride (and getting soaked!). Is it still there???
