This summer, my hope is to take the boys to visit Lego Land in Southern California. I have never been and they’ve been asking to go for a while now. If you’ve done it before, you know that driving with kids can be a challenge, but it can also be a lot of fun!

According to family travel expert Emily Kaufman, “The Travel Mom,” families are starting to think past the backyard “staycation” and are rediscovering the freedom of the open road. Before you go on a long road trip with your family, it is recommended to inspect your vehicle to ensure it is roadworthy. If you see cracks or chips on your windshield, you might want to get a car glass replacement service beforehand.

Kaufman shares the following tips for a fun and safe family road trip:

  • Create a boredom bag. Convert a hanging travel cosmetic case into a case full of fun and hang it from the seat back in front of the kids’ seats. Consider creating fun works of art with Twizzlers
    Pull ‘n’ Peel
    Candy before snacking on them!
  • Take your trip “online.” From GPS systems to phone applications, trips are no longer a navigation nightmare.
  • Think through the snacks you pack. Avoid packing snacks that are easy to spill like juice boxes or snacks that melt. Try plastic bottles with sports tops and bring along Twizzlers Candy or Twizzlers Nibs Candy – they are easy to share and don’t melt, making them the perfect car ride treat.

Where do you want to travel with  your family this summer or upcoming year?

I hope you got to go to Lego Land; it sounds like a great trip for both kids and adults. This year, we aren’t going very far, unfortunately. Perhaps a trip to the local zoo this week. It’s a great day trip and, even though it’s not an actual vacation, it’s always a nice time.

Good ideas, we want to go to legoland florida, but their hours are 10am to 5pm (It’s too hot during the day). Wish they kept the park open longer like Disney.
