Spreading Smucker’s Traditions Giveaway

I love Smucker’s® products and we use various Smucker’s® products in our home daily.  Ever since the Smucker’s Blogger Event last year, there is a special place in my heart and in our home for the company, the products, and the team that represents them.  This year, Smucker’s is excited to be holding the third annual Spreading Smucker’s® Traditions Recipe and Essay Contest.

About the Smucker’s® Traditions Recipe and Essay Contest

Families have cherished recipes and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation, and their treasured dish could be worth $20,000 in the third annual “Spreading Smucker’s® Traditions Recipe and Essay Contest.”

Through December 10th, you are invited to share an original family recipe that incorporates at least 1/4 cup of Smucker’s® Jam, Jelly, Preserves or Fruit Butter, along with an essay about how the recipe makes their family celebrations special.  The recipe must have been passed down for at least two generations.

And for the first time, the members of the Smucker family have shared two treasured recipes of their own to inspire consumers’ entries.

Jewel Box Cookies are tasty shortbread cookies with a touch of jam that are always prepared for the Smucker family and friends during special holiday gatherings.

Grandma Lori’s Marmalade Glazed Ham has been a regular dish at Smucker family picnics and holiday gatherings since Grandma Lori first made the dish two generations ago.

Five finalists will be selected in January 2011 and invited to The J.M. Smucker Company headquarters in Orville, OH, for a recipe judging event where one entry will be named Grand Prize winner and take home $20,000 towards a dream family reunion.  Visit www.smuckers.com to enter, view the Official Rules, and read last year’s winning recipe for “Lovey Dovey Cake” from Naomi S. of Chicago.

Entries will be accepted until December 10th, so act now and submit your recipe and essay for a chance to win a fabulous prize!

  1. I use the red raspberry seedless jam in a lot of chocolate dessert I make. One way is I make a batch of brownies and after they cooled I spread the jam and then I melt chocolate chips and 1/2 to 3/4 heavy cream or milk and then spread a layer of chocolate of the jam. Let it set, Very good.

  2. We use it a lot, but one of my favorite ways is when I am making Monte Cristos. Our fave restaurant, Bennigan’s, went out of business, but I can make these craveworthy sandwiches at home. I always use Smuckers blackberry preserves!

  4. We make a delicious meal called Peacy Chicken Picante where we use peach jelly or preserves in a chicken and salsa mixture that you put over rice and black beans. Delicious! I also love strawberry jam on toast!

  5. I have a recipe for raspberry meringue bars and it calls for about 1 1/2 cups of jam or jelly and well why not use the best.

  6. My son’s favorite sandwich is one he found in a kids’ cookbook. It’s called an “Ooh La La” and consists of turkey, brie and raspberry jam on a croissant. That’s our favorite use of Smucker’s!

  7. I love to toast an egg bagel, smear it with cream cheese, and then smear another layer of Smuckers low sugar strawberry jam on top—pure heaven!

  8. Strawberry preserves in my Peanut butter & Jelly is the most used… but preserves are also great on waffles… w/ whipped cream… 😉

  9. I ONLY use Smuckers in my jam thumb print cookies….they wouldn’t be the same without Smuckers! mmmmmm. =)

    Happy Holidays!

  10. I love using the sugar free raspberry jam on toast in the morning for breakfast. I could honestly eat this every single day. Thanks for the opportunity!

I like a simple piece of toast with a ton of preserves on top. My hubby loves to put the jelly on his biscuits with some butter.

  12. Okay, this might sound ho-hum, but for me there’s nothing better than classic Ritz crackers with cream cheese and Smucker’s Grape Jelly! Add a big mug of hot cocoa and you REALLY have a treat!

  13. There are so many different ways that we use Smucker’s in our house. Mostly for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but also for toast in the morning for breakfast too.

  14. with all the boys here for the holidays, it would be great for PB and J sandwiches!
They like grape, but I like a variety!!!
I also like to add it with waffles some times!
    🙂

  15. I love to use them on my Pancakes eating it without the butter and syrup

  17. My husband has taught me to mix the jelly with the peanut butter with a little syrup. Spread it on bread, crackers and even my celery. Please enter me, thank you

  18. It’s nothing exciting but it is my favorite way to use Smuckers. I like a plain old peanut butter and Smuckers sandwich. And of course, a glass of milk with it.

  19. My girls like this with peanut butter for a sandwich. They call it jelly. Thanks for the chance to win the nice basket

  20. Depending on my mood either a peanut butter/fluff/jellly sandwhich or a bagel with cream cheese and smuckers grape jelly 🙂

  21. I love using Smucker’s Strawberry Jam in a cup of hot tea. It gives the tea such a sweet flavor and tastes so good early in the morning.

  22. I use Smuckers early in the morning as I make my kids’ lunches each day. My son can’t eat peanut butter, so he always gets an extra few spoonfuls of strawberry preserves!

  23. They are my favorite brand for Peanut butter & jelly. Also like on crackers. One thing I love about Smuckers is they keep the glass jars instead of yucky plastic.

  24. My favorite use for the jelly is the little wienie recipe my mom has. It’s little sausage wienies with BBQ sauce and grape jelly in it. You dip them out with toothpicks and make yourself sick eating so many cause they are yummy with a capital Y. Lol.
