Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Giveaway

My boys love it when I read to them.  I try to use the funny voices or hand gestures and they get a kick out of it!  Thanks to Pizza Hut, I received a fun PJ Party Pack, including two $10 Pizza Hut Gift Cards and a copy of the book, Marsupial Sue Presents the Runaway Pancake, written by New York Times Bestselling Author John Lithgow.  The book is a cute one!  I love the illustrations throughout the book and the story is a fun one!

The BOOK IT! Program encourages reading with children throughout the United States.  The new challenge for Week 7 is challenging teachers and parents to read aloud to preschoolers for 800 minutes – that’s 5 minutes a day for 5 days a week for an 8 week period.  You can find more information about the BOOK IT! Program online!

The BOOK IT! Program is also celebrating record breaking attendance this year with Pizza Hut donating 50,000,000 meals to Haiti Relief through the World Food Programme!

MY THOUGHTS

I think this is a great program with an amazing goal.  Reading is so important and our kids benefit from being read aloud to.  The book, Marsupial Sue Presents the Runaway Pancake, was a fun book that my boys enjoyed!  Keep up the good work Pizza Hut and BOOK IT!

  1. I am sorry about that last comment, could you remove it. Somehow my computer gliched and put something I had done somewhere else.

  2. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a fun book to read aloud. We would start reading it, and by the end of the book would be singing it. Not really great for a bedtime story…as we would be dancing by the end of the book. Thanks for the review and giveaway!

  3. I would say I have 2 books I like reading over & over and that would be grimms fairy tales & thumbelina, my husband brought back an original thumbelina story book to my daughter 23 years ago when he went to germany and its so colorful and feels as though you are pulled right into the book with the story of knowing a child was loved & wanted so much by an older couple who could not have children. I love reading it now to my only grandson & will pass it along to his own children as well, thanks I think the pizza hut book it program is just wonderful and remember my daughter loving it some 20 years ago and its still going strong, its true what they say >good things never die.

  4. Actually, we have no favorites. Our daughter was a self-taught reader by the age of four from watching phonics videos and shows. She actually reads everything and anything to us. From the beginning, she was completely independent in wanting to look at or read books on her on; and she reads to her younger brother.

“Goodnight, Moon” is a favorite for me, although I often prefer to make up stories and ask “What do you think happens next?”

  6. Llama Llama Red Pajama is one of my current favorites, and also SkippyJohn Jones. My girls love how I talk in different voices and exaggerate things. It is REALLY FUN!!

  7. My favorite book to read aloud to kids is “Sideways Stories from Wayside School.” Short little stories, and a lot of fun!

Thank you for the giveaway. 🙂

  11. The Book it program is so great….both my sons have participated and it really made them feel so special to get their own pizza as a reward for reading.

Our favorite book to read aloud is Mr Brown Can Moo. So fun.

  12. I love reading books aloud to my daughter that have good rhythm and normally some rhyme, so I like the Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb by Al Perkins, I like an English Bear book series which has excellent rhyming (“I know… do you?” and “I like…do you?”), and the latest I really liked reading aloud was “The Library” by Sarah Stewart.
