“Where the Wild Things Are” DVD Review & Giveaway

I remember growing up with the book, Where the Wild Things Are, and loving to have it read to me!  I loved little Max – who went Where the Wild Things Are.  I was really excited to have an opportunity to watch it on DVD.  I think I was more excited than my kids were because I had grown up with the story.  I read the story again (this time as an adult) and then watched the movie.  I was amazed by how the writers for the movie expanded on the characters from the popular children’s book to bring this wonderful story to life.  I was really impressed with the costumes for the Wild Things and had an overall good feeling with the movie. I also really liked the music inWhere the Wild Things Are,” which was fun and really went well with the plot of the movie.  I am so glad I had the opportunity to review the movie and add it to our DVD collection.

On March 2nd, Warner Home Video released “Where the Wild Things Are” on DVD and Blu-ray.  Director Spike Jonze worked with author of the book, Maurice Sendark, to bring one of the most beloved children’s books of all time to the big screen.  “Where the Wild Things Are” stars Max Record (a newby to the screen), Emmy Award winner James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), Academy Award winner Forrest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, Street Kings), Academy Award nominee Catherine Keener (The Soloist, Into the Wild), Mark Ruffalo, and Academy Award winner Chris Cooper (Syriana, Adaptation).

“Where the Wild Things Are” follows Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy who feels misunderstood at home, as he escapes to where the Wild Things are. Max lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions and who are desperately longing for a leader to guide them, just as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create a place where everyone will be happy. But Max soon finds that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.

“Where the Wild Things Are” is available on Blu-ray Combo Pack for $35.99 and on single disc DVD for $28.98. The Combo Pack includes Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy of the movie.  “Where the Wild Things Are” is also available ON DEMAND through Digital Cable, Satellite TV, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game consoles and it can be downloaded for rental or purchase on iTunes and Amazon Video On Demand.
