“Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You” DVD Review & Giveaway

I love Valentine’s Day and I love Winnie the Pooh.  So, I was excited to have the opportunity to review “Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine for You Special Edition” on DVD.  My boys loved it, especially my 4 year old.  The DVD was yet another adorable part of the Winnie the Pooh collection and one I am happy to own.  The DVD included 3 Winnie the Pooh stories, including a newer episode (“My Hero”), a fun game called “Catch the Love Bug,” and Winnie the Pooh Valentine’s Day cards.  The DVD was released on January 5th, 2010 by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment

The first episode is “Un-Valentines Day,” where Pooh and his friends are excited for Valentine’s Day, but Rabbit wants to cancel this special day because last year he was up to his ears in a ton of cards that littered the Hundred Acre Wood.  To everyone’s dismay, they agree, until Pooh receives an anonymous pot of honey.  Suddenly, the excitement for Valentine’s Day returns and everyone is delighted, including Rabbit.

The second episode is “A Valentine for You,” where Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Rabbit see Christopher Robin making a valentine for a girl.  The characters find that Christopher Robin has been bitten by a “Smitten” and is lovesick for this girl.  Worried that he won’t have time for them anymore, and that a second bite from the love bug will cure him, they set out on an adventure looking for the Smitten.

The third episode is “My Hero,” a new-to-DVD adventure that shows how two friends can truly help each other.  When Piglet saves Tigger’s life, Tigger decides he wants to repay the favor by becoming Piglet’s servant.  But Tigger’s new job causes more harm than good to Piglet.  When Tigger saves Piglet’s life, his obligation to be Piglet’s servant ends and everything goes back to the way it was.

BONUS FEATURES

*”Catch the Love Bug Game” – Flying “Love Bugs” are on the loose in the Hundred Acre Wood and it’s up to the viewer to catch as many as possible

  1. I love decorating for it. (I hate to admit the boys and I are decorating as I type this.) Little reminders of love until mid-February.

  2. For years, Valentines day was just me and my husband. Now that we have two boys, I love getting to go out to eat with all of us. We still go to the same restaurant. It makes it extra special.

  3. My favorite part of Valentine’s Day is making heart shape cookies with pink and red frosting with the kids.

  7. My favorite part of Valentine’s Day has always been big heart shaped sugar cookies that my Mom always made for us. We each got our own HUGE heart cookie with candies on it and our name. I have continued the tradition and I look forward to making one for my son since this year he can actually have eat the cookie!

  8. My favorite thing is getting to eat heart shaped chocolate candy and wearing pink, which I don’t normally do.

  9. My favorite part of Valentine’s Day is knowing that despite our busy schedules, my husband and I will definitely spend some quality time together! 🙂

  10. OK I wont lie, I don’t like Valentine’s Day. Back in 2000 my best friend killed himself on that day. I only celebrate for my daughter but still don’t enjoy it much.

  15. Favorite part of valentine’s day is when my children do something to show their love all on their own… like make breakfast, cards, etc.

  16. Actually, it’s no different than any other day of the year–I can’t wait for my husband to get home from work.

  17. My favorite part of Valentines Day is giving my awesome husband a mushy card telling him how much I love him!! I also like using the kids valentines notes in his lunch to catch him off guard throughout the year. hee hee!

  18. No need to enter me. The first episode is actually A Valentine for You, much higher quality than the second episode Un-Valentines Day. Getting valentines is my favorite part of Valentine’s Day.

  19. Deborah Wellenstein

The whole month of February is special, as our two children and their spouses have their birthdays in February! Valentine’s Day just reminds us how much we love each other. Thanks!

  20. I like that it makes you remember your special someone even more than you already do. It’s a nice feeling to wake up and remember how great you are together.

  21. My favorite part of Valentine’s day is the anticipation of the person I love’s response to whatever I got her that year.

  22. I love to eat the candy and especially love it when the candy goes on for one half price the day after and alot of times 75% off after a week.

  23. My favorite part about Valentine’s Day is it’s a national excuse to eat chocolate. Sounds like a great idea to me! My little nephew adores Winnie the Pooh. Thank you for the chance to win.

  24. I love the celebration of love and caring about others. It’s a day to celebrate the hugs and kisses and special moments in our lives.

  25. I love Valentine’s Day because the whole family enjoys a special day in the middle of dreary winter. I make a special meal where all menu items are either heart-shaped or pink. My husband and I exchange gifts and we get something small for each of the kids (usually candy). We all look forward to it every year.

  26. I had to laugh at Christine’s entry (301) because I do that too. My favorite part is having another day of the year to spoil hubby and kids, and have it be totally official.

  27. I love to go shopping to choose the prettiest Valentine cards for my two little granddaughters who love getting their very own mail! I also send them Valentine sticker sheets in their cards.

  28. My favorite part of Valentine’s Day has always been simply taking a little extra time to let my wife know how much she means to me. I might even do the dishes for her!

  29. My favorite part of valentines day is the yummy candy that goes along with it! You can never have too many reasons to eat candy! thanks for the giveaway!!
