Featured Blogger Friday

I have loved getting to know so many great bloggers around the blogosphere and the Featured Blogger Friday on The Mommy-Files gives everyone a chance to get to know those bloggers. Today, I’d like to introduce Tanya from Mommy Goggles, one of the first blogs I found online and she has helped me tremendously in the blogging world! I even had the chance to meet her in person at the recent General Mills Eat and Greet Event in Minnesota! Here is a little more about Tanya on The Mommy-Files’ Featured Blogger Friday.


What made you choose the name of your blog?

I have a passion for photography. Have you ever heard the saying “Is this picture adorable, or is it just me with my mommy goggles on?” I think everyone can relate to that saying. A couple of years ago, before we moved, I had a small photography business where I would go on location to do photos for just about anything from high school graduation all the way down to on location play dates with kids and newborns in my home studio. When I started my blog, I thought ‘Mommy Goggles’ fit in great for a name so that I could integrate my photography with my reviews. I don’t do ‘sessions’ anymore, but I have a blast photographing my own kids and the product reviews that I do.

Who designed your blog?

I did with the help of Lauren from Restored 316 Designs. I buy my headers from her as well. She tolerates my random need to change every few months. LOL! I am about to go through another change and she has been helping me with a header for my upcoming food website that will launch on October 1st.

Why do you blog?

My blog is my ‘therapy’. I also have been in the corporate world for just about my entire life, so being a stay at home mom, I still have contact with the ‘corporate world’. Once we moved last summer to a small town, we decided it was better for us and our kids (not to mention cheaper since we don’t have to pay for daycare for 2 kids) to stay home, so I really started hard core with my blog, reviews and working with companies that I truly love. To me, my blog is my job – it isn’t just a blog to me.

What is the purpose of your blog?

Originally, I had a random blog where I would talk about everything from fertility, trying to conceive, and just venting about daily adventures. It wasn’t until the last 2 years that I ventured off and bought a domain and started working with reviews and giveaways. Being a consumer, I always do research on products before I buy them. I started doing product reviews because I realized that there are many people out there that do just that – they want to read real opinions about products they are looking at purchasing.

Do you have any blogging tips (i.e. from those getting started to those who have been blogging longer than you)?

Stick with it! If you have the passion, blogging will come to you naturally. Don’t give up. Blogging IS time consuming, but it is rewarding and a lot of fun.

Are you married? If so, how long?

I am married to a busy coach and teacher. We have been married for 6 years. I try to pick little fights with him to keep that spark, but he won’t let me pick at him. LOL We have never fought and hopefully that will remain that way.

Do you have children? If so, how many?

I have three. At home, I have Tucker that is a spunky 4 year old and Kambry who is my 23 month old diva. I have a 15 year old daughter that lives out of state with her dad.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

Breakfast Club! I *heart * me some Judd Nelson!

Who is your favorite actor?

Of all times.. Hmm… Sorry Judd, but Matt Damon had me at hello! Rarh!

What is your favorite dessert?

I don’t really eat many sweets, but at holidays, I always demand a chocolate pie. My mouth is totally drooling right now!

What is your favorite holiday?

Favorite Holiday… well, I would say that the entire Fall season is my favorite. I love Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas. There’s just something about the cooler weather. I love those cold days where you get to stay in your jammies all day.

And of course, you know me, there has to be a chocolate question. What is your favorite candy bar? Is there other candy bars other than Snickers?

I have a weakness for Snickers. I will mow your lawn for a Snickers bar. Well, for a king size Snickers, that is 😉
