"Countdown to My Birth" Review & Giveaway
I remember being pregnant with each of my boys and wondering each week what new things were happening to the baby. Now, with Countdown to My Birth, by Julie B. Carr, you can see what’s going on with your baby each day through the pregnancy, as well as record any thoughts of feelings you may have about your baby! There are also stickers included, such as “Daddy felt me kick” or “You Decide on My Name.” On each day, you write the date. I love it! What a great idea!
I had the opportunity to interview the author and ask her some questions about this Pregnancy Journal. Here are my questions and her answers!
1. What inspired you to create Countdown to My Birth?
During my first pregnancy, I was talking to my mother on the phone and was apparently talking a little too much about my pregnancy symptoms. At one point, she asked me, “And what’s happening with the baby?” I realized at that moment that I had been focusing entirely on ME and not at all on the baby. All of the popular books I had been reading talked in detail about the pregnancy symptoms, what tests should be taken, rare diseases, potential delivery complications, yet talked very little about the development of the baby. I decided to create a new type of pregnancy book that focused entirely on the baby, written from the baby’s point of view, so that people would not lose sight of the miracle they are creating.
2. Do you have other books or new books coming out in the near future?
Yes. When I became pregnant again, I tried to find a good book that would involve my older son in the pregnancy. I found several books, but nothing that was written ‘from’ the baby to the older sibling. I decided to create another book, based on the same concept of Countdown to My Birth, but geared towards the older sibling. Making Me: The Pregnancy Activity Book for My Big Brother or Sister was the result. [Note: if you want to say where’s it’s available, please use www.UniquePregnancyGifts.com ]
3. What is one piece of advice you have for moms and parents out there?
When you’re tired and exasperated with your children, remember that everything is a phase and keep repeating the phrase, “This too shall pass!” With two young boys, I said that continuously for years!
