How to Bake 4 Batches of Cookies (with children)
My task this week is to bake 4 batches of cookies to give away as Christmas gifts to friends and neighbors.
This doesn’t seem like a difficult task, but factor in 3 energetic little boys and a 1 hour baking project can take 3 hours to complete. A person with no children might ask, “Why in the world would that take 3 hours?” It takes 3 hours because unplanned things may happen such as trying to quiet down squealing children, answering the phone, putting in a load of laundry, nursing the baby, changing the baby’s diaper, breaking up an argument with the 2 oldest kids, changing another diaper, answering another phone call, nursing the baby or feeding him food again, putting a movie in for the kids, putting a toy on time out because the kids are arguing, attending to one or more of the crying children, etc.
I figured out the only way I can bake this many cookies successfully is if I do it when:
– they are sleeping
– they are watching a movie or
– they are at a friend’s house.
I’ll let you know how it goes! If you have any tips, feel free to share them with me π
No, I just used to work for verizon for a long time and that was the option that we had for customers. I’m sure they still do it, but they probably want to hear customers put up more of a fuss before they just hand out free money.
Those cookies look awesome!
I doubt people realize all the trouble it takes for you to bake all those cookies!!
