Oh Daddy!
Every house has what I call a “crazy maker.” This is someone who just likes to “stir the pot” a little bit. In our house, that would be Daddy (aka George).
On Saturday, I told him it might be a good idea to start teaching Brian how to “sight read.” Sight reading, from what I understand, involves teaching children to recognize words such as “the,” “and,” “but,” and other frequently used words.
I pointed to the milk carton looking for a word to teach Brian. Then George looks at it and says “fat.” Not the word I was thinking. I was thinking “milk.” We looked at each other and laughed.
Anything Brian says that comes out inappropriate – I blame it on daddy!
My mom was a Kindergarten teacher, so is huge on sight words. My 4 year old is very excited about his two sight words(the, and) that she taught him in February when she came out after our baby was born. He won’t move past these two words though. He loves them, spots them all over, but isn’t really interested in learning any more. Oh well. He’ll read eventually.
