Today, I am sharing a blog post on Redhead Mom about 3 ways to treat a scratchy throat in partnership with Beekeeper’s Naturals.

Winter is here and that means we have holidays and time with family and friends, as well as cold weather and scratchy throats. As a teacher, I rely on my voice all day long and having a scratchy throat can definitely impede on a day filled with teaching, redirecting, and the maintaining of a positive classroom environment. With limited time during the day, I need effective ways to treat a scratchy throat. Let’s check them out.
Drink Plenty of Water
If you have a scratchy throat, you’ll want to make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. Drinking plenty of water will help to keep your throat moist and prevent possible dehydration. If you’re drinking liquids, be sure to stay away from caffeine and alcohol as they can actually dehydrate you. In addition to water, you can drink warm liquids, such as broth, tea, or warm water with honey.
Get Lots of Rest
Not only do you want to be sure to drink lots of water when you’re experiencing a scratchy throat, but you also want to get lots of rest. It’s important for your body to conserve as much energy so it can help heal you. You’ll want to rest your body, as well as your voice. As tempting as it is, try to give your voice a break until your scratchy throat goes away.

Beekeeper’s Naturals Propolis Throat Spray
When I have a scratchy throat, I like to use either throat spray or lozenges. I recently discovered Beekeeper’s Naturals Propolis Throat Spray and it’s a great product! With more than 300 beneficial compounds, propolis is the bodyguard of the beehive. Propolis is what the bees use to protect their hives and keep the germs out. It’s been studied to be antimicrobial and antifungal to help fight germs. We use it to support our immune systems, soothe scratchy throats, and combat free radical damage in the body. Propolis contains Vitamins B, C, and D, as well as Zinc and Antioxidants.
You can use daily throat spray to proactively support your immune system or to soothe a dry or scratchy throat or cough when you’re feeling under the weather. There is both an adult’s version and a kid’s version of the propolis throat spray. The adult’s version has slightly more propolis (85mg per serving vs. 77mg per serving). The kid’s version has buckwheat honey for flavor and added antioxidants. Both are safe for kids and adults.
I love that all of the Beekeeper’s Naturals products are made with clean ingredients and are always free of artificial colors and preservatives. They are also third party tested to ensure they’re pesticide free, which is better for us and the bees. The mission of Beekeeper’s Naturals is to reinvent the medicine cabinet – merging modern science with natural science to create clean, effective products that actually work. Propolis is their key ingredient and the medicine of the beehive – helping support our immune system with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and over 300 beneficial compounds. Beekeeper’s Naturals also practice sustainable beekeeping and third-party test their formulas to ensure that their products are free of pesticides and heavy metals. They never over-harvest their hives and with each swag purchase, they donate to the pollinator protection research at UC Davis. So not only is it a great product, but a great company as well.
