Today, on Redhead Mom, I’m sharing a partnered guest post about exciting holiday activities and Christmas events in Houston for kids.

Christmas tree lights

For both young and old, the holiday season is a beautiful time. This Christmas season, there are many entertaining activities for youngsters, like gator encounters, mouth-watering pizza for kids, gorgeous winter lights, and ice skating.

Houston is a flourishing, world-class metropolis with so many fascinating things to see and do. Even several free activities are sure to keep your kids occupied.

Holiday Activities for the Kids

The following are just a handful of Houston’s top free kid’s activities.

Aquarium

The 7 1/2 acre, action-packed Houston Downtown Aquarium is a must-see attraction! More than 200 aquatic species are kept here, and your kid can see them all up close and enjoy seeing the various animals in training. Along with a train ride, carnival games, and rides, the aquarium offers a lively underwater ambiance and an underwater restaurant. You can also visit sites like https://crabhouse39.com/san-francisco-restaurant-on-the-water/ to see restaurants by the sea/ocean.

Journey of Outer Space

The prestigious Space Center with tours of the NASA Johnson Space Center’s backstage areas, Houston is one of the city’s most well-liked family attractions. There is much to astonish and amuse people of all ages, which is packed with interactive exhibits, multi-media displays, cutting-edge technology, and exciting space relics. A full-day pass to Space Center Houston includes access to the Starship Gallery, Mission Briefing Center, and NASA Tram. Various entry times are available throughout the day.

Live Streamer

The Houston Area Live Steamers, an organization devoted to living steam modeling, is “the” place to go for free rides on steam and diesel model trains on a 4,700-foot track. Take a scenic ride on the Cypress Creek and Southern Railroad tracks through the windmills and miniature bridges-filled Northwest Harris County park.

Ice Skating

Houstonians seldom get the opportunity to go ice skating outside due to the city’s generally mild—and occasionally warm—climate. The Ice, an outdoor rink you can visit even if it’s 70 degrees outside, relocates temporarily to Discovery Green park downtown during the weeks leading up to Christmas.

It is one of the most outstanding venues to spend quality time with the family throughout the holiday season and plays pleasant holiday music. Themed evenings and Santa visits keep it interesting all the time.

Storytime

Houston Public Libraries invite you to settle in for story time. Many libraries offer online story times in these uncertain times, but hopefully, live story times will soon return. It lists the best activities for families with young children in Houston!

Butterfly Center

A glass-enclosed butterfly habitat with a model rainforest and dozens of gorgeously colorful butterflies is adjacent to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. It will indeed wow you and your kids while teaching them something new.

They feature a variety of insects, not just butterflies, and you’ll be surprised by how much you can learn from these creepy crawlies. In addition to insects, the enormous dome has a wide variety of plants you and your children may study. In the Pollinator Garden, you can discover more about how bees and butterflies interact with flowers.

Santa’s Wonderland

Santa’s Wonderland is a sizable Christmas village located within Bass Pro Shops in Pearland that offers free fun activities, including crafts, games, and seasonal enchantment, in addition to free photographs with Santa. The unique holiday experience includes rustic Christmas huts, cartoon holiday characters, interacting talking caribou, and live elves amid snow-covered hills, lit-up Christmas trees, and an arctic sky.

Laser and foam toy games are available in the Christmas village. Remote-controlled trucks are also available

Children’s Museums

One of the top children’s museums in the world, The Children’s Museum Houston has 13 multilingual exhibits and focuses on innovative, child-centered learning. Everyone is welcome to the museum for free on Thursdays from 5-8 p.m., but you must have a kid with you. Open every Monday with advanced bookings.

Conclusion

Seasonal celebrations in Houston may be enjoyed by participating in festivals, holiday performances, and exclusive museum activities. You’re nearly sure to have a fantastic time in Houston, no matter where you go or what you do. But why would you spend that much money if you didn’t have to? It’s challenging to justify spending money when so many family-friendly, entertaining activities in Houston are available for free and guaranteed to be a hit with the kids.
