Last summer, we went camping at Lake Lopez in Arroyo Grande, California and discovered Mustang Waterpark. We actually rode our bikes from our RV camping site to Mustang Waterpark and even bought season passes for our entire family! We went a few times and had a blast. While it wasn’t as big as other water parks, it was nice to have one to go to that wasn’t 2 hours away!
We bought our passes online and had to make sure we had the printouts to show them at the window. Once I gave them the printouts, they gave us All Access Pass bracelets to wear for the day. If you think you’ll go the waterpark more than 3 times during the summer, I would recommend getting Season Passes, as daily admission for someone over 48″ is $21 each time and for under 48″ it’s $18 each time.
When visiting Mustang Waterpark, I would recommend two things. First, get there early – like as soon as or shortly after they open, especially if visiting on the weekend. When we got there as soon as they opened, there was plenty of seating and even some in the shade (important especially for those of us who burn quickly and easily). Second, wear lots of sunscreen!! Riding waterslides are fun, but not when you get a sunburn!
At Mustang Waterpark, you’ll find both a Kiddie Pool and three different waterslides. When you first walk in, you’ll see cabanas on your left and a Kiddie Pool right in front of you. The Kiddie Pool has small waterslides and is a great place for all ages to take a dip or go under the mushroom waterfall and cool off.
Our kids’ favorite attraction at the Mustang Waterpark (formerly called Mustang Waterslides) was Stampede! When you ride the Stampede, you actually plummet 38 feet down one side of the giant half-pipe in an inner tube. You’ll then speed 38 feet up the other side, stop, then repeat this wild ride backwards! While I didn’t have the guts to go on it, I did have fun taking pictures and videos of my kids riding it! You can either go solo or ride with a buddy in the double tube.
In addition to the Kiddie Pool and Stampede, you’ll find two different waterslides. These two giant 600-foot curving waterslides will take you from a hilltop overlooking Lake Lopez to splashing down in the catch pools at the bottom. I love that Mustang Waterpark has lifeguards at each ride, ensuring our family‘s complete safety. Life jackets are available if members of your family need them.
At Mustang Waterpark, you also have the option to rent Cabanas, which are great especially if you want guaranteed seating in the shade. You’ll also find a bathroom with changing rooms and a Snack Bar! At the Snack Bar, you’ll find hamburgers, hot dogs, chili dogs, nachos, salads, chips, candy, ice cream and more!
Our family had a blast and we look forward to going to Mustang Waterpark again this year!

Mustang Water Park looks like so much fun! My favorite way to spend time with the kids is at the water park. We have so much fun!
My family loves to go to the water park. We live in a state that is routinely hot enough to fry an egg on your dashboard. The best way to beat the heat is to get out and enjoy the water park!

The Stampede and the water slides are totally my cup of tea. I wish we had a small something near by. This looks just enough fun and really close by.
