I love the holidays and everything about them! It all starts with Thanksgiving. On this day, we start cooking early in the morning (sometimes even the day before). Throughout the day, we snack on different appetizers and visit with family and friends. The day ends eating a lot of amazing food, loosening your pants and relaxing after a big meal. Sometimes with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, our pets get pushed to the background. They don’t get all the love and attention they normally would. It’s not because we don’t love them, but rather because the day gets away from us with all the busy activities going on.

Our pets are just as important as all the members in the family and we don’t want them to feel forgotten during the holidays. So let’s make it a goal to include them in our holiday activities! Here are 3 ways to include your pets during the holidays:

1 – Fun toy. Our pets love to play with toys, right? Whether it’s a plush toy, a squeaky toy, or something to chew on – who doesn’t like a new toy? We gave the dogs a cute squeaky toy in the shape of a turkey leg (thank you Beneful) and they love it!

2 – Yummy food. We’ve partnered with Beneful over the past year and our dogs have loved their products! They’ve enjoyed the varieties of wet food and dog food, as well as a variety of dog treats! With Beneful, you’ll find 8 varieties of dry dog food, 20 varieties of wet dog food, and 9 varieties of dog treats. Not only are Beneful products easy to find (i.e. you don’t have to special order), but they’re designed for your dog‘s specific type and size! Plus, real beef or chicken is now their #1 ingredient (with no added sugar).

3 – Dinner time. How many times has your pet sat next to your dining table, anxiously awaiting a stray piece of food to fall from the table to the floor? Why not give your pet a special meal at dinner time as well? As mentioned above, Beneful products are a great option. Set up your pet‘s dish filled with food at the same time everyone else eats and enjoy your holiday meal as a family!

4 – Lots of cuddle time. Knowing that the holidays can be busy, be sure to make your pet feel special and include lots of cuddle time for him or her. Trust me, your pet will appreciate it and thank you with lots of nuzzles and kisses!

  1. I love this! Of course our furry friends need to be included in our holiday fun! One of my favorite things to do is put together stockings and either put doggie treats in the bottom or cat nip and let them get all excited over the smell. They go crazy opening the stockings every year, lol.

  3. I buy them special toys and treats, and usually do a stocking for them. I think I have more fun than they do, but it’s a good time.

I always make sure that the pets get their own stocking filled with their favorite treats and a new toy.

Another thing to mindful with the holidays is that with extra people around, make sure pets are accounted for and nobody sneaks out of the house.

  5. We got our dog Bailey and our cat Jasmine new beds and they
get a stocking full of toys and treats and some gifts to unwrap
on Christmas morning we also get our bird Doodle some toys and treats
    for Christmas.

  6. I always buy Christmas presents for my dogs. Usually its a long lasting treat that keeps them from tearing through the packages.

  7. Each one has their very own stocking with their name on it. I also make sure to fill them with their favorite play toys and some treats.

  8. My Cujo goes every where with me. He is almost like a third arm. He is there when I wrap presents. I gave him a bow to play with. He rip the gift wrapping paper into a million pieces when presents were being open. He got a little bite of ham at dinner time.

  9. My dog never leaves my side through all of the cooking and wrapping. He may not have a concept of holidays or rip open gifts but he is always a part of my daily activities.

  10. Roxi isn’t a pet, she is a member of our family. She gets a special meal on her birthday, Christmas, whenever we do! She also gets her own presents and boy, does she get excited! LOL

  11. I always have a present under the tree from and a present to the cats. On Christmas Eve, they all get some fish like the rest of the family to celebrate. And extra attention and hugs, of course!
