Holiday Shopping Gift Guide for Men
It’s hard to believe the holidays are just around the corner! I don’t know about you, but shopping for my husband, dad and stepdad prove to be challenging for me each and every holiday season. Hopefully, this holiday gift guide that I’ve created from experience will help give you some ideas when it comes to holiday gift ideas for men.
Scotch/Whiskey – I have found some great deals at both Costco (really great prices based on the size of the bottles) and BevMo. Knappogue Castle Whiskey, Kirkland 16 Year Scotch, Glen Livet, Glen Morgangi and Johnnie Walker Blue (very pricey, but amazingly smooth taste). Depending on the time of year you purchase it, you may find it in a larger size, in a special container, or in a special gift set. To go with the Scotch, give the gifts of whiskey glasses or a decanter to store the scotch in.
Video Games and Accessories – My husband loves electronics and technology and sometimes even loves to play video games. In our home, we have both an XBOX ONE and a PS4. Both systems are good and have a variety of games to play on them. Upgrade the gaming experience with headsets with microphones, driving simulator seats, and custom remote controllers. Handheld games are always fun too, including this Classic Retro Handheld Football Electronic Game.
Electronics – My husband loves electronics and technology and a new television would be a great Father’s Day gift! I’ve found a lot of great deals on televisions at Best Buy, which is where we’ve typically purchased our TVs. The Insignia™ 32″ LED HDTV or Sony Music Surround Sound System are great gift ideas and are available at Best Buy. The Kindle Paperwhite E-reader is another great gift idea.
Record Player and Accessories – Does your man like music? How about records? A record player is a great idea because not only is it a classic way to listen to music, but it may also bring back fond memories of their childhood. I know it did with me when I started looking at record players. Best Buy has a gorgeous Teac Turntable in Cherry. Upgrade the Record Player with a Premium Swiss Leather Turntable Mat and a Disc Stabilizer.
Records – If you get your man a record player for the holidays, you’ll definitely want to pick up some records for his collection. These are some of our favorite record titles:
- Depeche Mode: Songs of Faith and Devotion
- Depeche Mode: Ultra
- Depeche Mode: Exciter
- The Smiths: Louder Than Bombs
- Delerium: Karma
- A-ha: Hunting High and Low
- B-52’s: Cosmic Thing
- Morrissey: The Very Best of Morrissey
- The Cure: Standing on a Beach Singles
- Daft Punk: Tron
- Electric Light Orchestra: All Over the World: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra
- Prince: Around the World in a Day
- Tears for Fears: Songs from the Big Chair
- Alanis Morissette: Jagged Little Pill
- Peter Gabriel: So 45 RPM Half Speed
- Fleetwood Mac: Greatest Hits
- Madonna
- Madonna: Ray of Light
- Steve Miller Band: Greatest Hits
- Reo Speedwagon: The Hits
- Sublime
- Beck: Sea Change
- The Ocean Blue
- Silversun Pickups: Better Nature
- Pink Floyd: The Wall
Tools – Do you have a man who likes to build or fix things? Tools are a great holiday gift idea as well! I try to ask my husband questions throughout the year and then write them down. Then when it comes to holiday shopping, I have a list of ideas of what to get him. It also helps to have them create a wish list (you can do this easily on Amazon). I think every man can use this tool – a Gerber Center-Drive Multi-Tool with Sheath and Bit Set. If he likes fixing things, you should also look at getting him a Soldering Station.
Music – Who doesn’t like music? With the holidays, give the gift of music! Whether it be a Karaoke machine, MP3 player filled with digital downloads or a Bluetooth Speaker, giving the gift of music is one that will last. In our home, we love to sing Karaoke. In fact, we’ve enjoyed Karaoke with my parents and sister during holidays or family get-togethers. If your man enjoys Karaoke, you might want to consider getting a Karaoke machine, as well as a subscription to the Karaoke channel. Upgrade the experience with new microphones and an iPad to use for the Karaoke channel words and music.
Gift Experience – My dad has always been a man of adventure who loves thrill and excitement. I remember him sharing his dream of flying an aircraft once in his lifetime. Thankfully, experience gifts for men provide safe and amazing flying lessons. I personally feel every man who loves adventures must try this fabulous experience at least once.
Subscriptions – There are a variety of subscriptions out there, including watches, clothes, and even alcohol. I found a subscription called Watch Gang is pretty cool. It is a monthly subscription and you will receive a new watch each month. It’s pretty dang cool, especially if your man is into collecting watches.
Accessories – Every few years, my husband’s wallet wears down and that’s when I look for another one to give him as a gift. If your husband travels a lot, you’ll want to take a look at the Fossil Men’s Camden Passport Case. Another gift idea is to get him a new pair of sunglasses or a watch.
