5 Ways to Upgrade Your RV
We love to travel, but with 6 kids, that can get really expensive rather quickly. With an RV, traveling becomes and affordable! While we were super excited to purchase our RV, we realized there were also some ways we wanted to upgrade the RV to make long drives and stays as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Check out these 5 Ways to Upgrade Your RV.
TV with Surround Sound System – In our RV, Frank and I have a slightly separate room at the back. The room has a queen size bed (which we’ll be upgrading with the Purple mattress someday) and an entrance to the bathroom, as well as a closet and under-bed storage. In our space, we decided to upgrade it and add in a tv and a Roku. The Roku is awesome because it allows you to stream channels like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime as long as you have a wi-fi connection.
We love shopping at Best Buy. In fact, many of our electronic and household items we’ve found at great prices at Best Buy. Not only do I love the quality and prices of products at Best Buy, but I also love the customer service we receive when we shop there. We purchased an Insignia 19″ LED HDTV (perfect for the RV), as well as a Sony Micro Music SystemΒ (set up in the RV main area). You can also mount your tv in the RV to make it easier to see. While we got them at great prices, keep in mind that Best Buy will match a lower price if you find one.
Built-in Wireless Truck Parking System / Back-up Camera – If you’ve ever driven an RV, you know it can be difficult and scary when it comes to your surroundings. An RV is a big vehicle, which creates a lot of blind spots. That’s where a back-up camera can come in handy a great deal! Having the back-up camera makes it easier to see what’s behind you when you’re backing up and keep you, your family, your RV and everyone around you safe.
Extra Counter Space – One thing I love about our RV (among many others) is the kitchen. We have a sink, stovetop, oven, microwave, refrigerator and freezer in our RV. While we have a little bit of counter space, we found a way to add more counter space. To do that, you need a Stove Top Cover and you’ll immediately have extra counter space. We use ours quite a bit and it really does make a world of difference!
Bike Rack – When we travel or go camping as a family, it’s nice to bring our own bikes so we can enjoy the outdoors more. That’s where putting a bike rack on your RV comes into play. You’ll also want to make sure you have a lock to keep your bikes safe when you’re sleeping at night or away from your RV during the day.
Stabilize Your RV – If you’ve ever gone camping in an RV, you know how shaky and wobbly it can get inside if you’re not on level ground. That’s where the stabilizers come in handy.
These are some great ways to upgrade your RV and can be cost effective if you spread them out over time. In addition to upgrading your RV, you’ll want to be sure to keep your RV in good shape. Getting your RV roof inspected and cleaned should happen at least once a year. If there are chips or cracks on your windshield, get an auto glass repair service immediately. You’ll also want to be sure to have an extra battery or battery charger for your RV in case the battery dies. We’ve purchased our RV Battery from AutoZone, but I believe you could also find one at Costco. Make sure as well to keep you RV in a safe spot, if you donβt use your RV throughout the entire year, then consider leaving your RV in a motor home storage space facility.
Here’s to having fun in your RV and making lots of memories!
