Keeping Fruit Fresh with the FreshWorks Produce Saver
In our home, we have 6 kids and 2 adults. I would love to buy produce more often, but one of the reasons I don’t is because it seems to always go bad so quickly. When I had the opportunity to check out the FreshWorks™ Produce Saver from Rubbermaid, I jumped on the opportunity to see how it worked. And let me tell you…I was impressed!!!
I received a FreshWorks™ Produce Saver 3-Piece Set – different sized containers for different types of produce, including berries, strawberries and lettuce. Participating in the #LongLiveProduce Challenge, I headed to our local fruit stand to purchase strawberries and blackberries. I kept both the strawberries and blackberries in the original cartons. You’ll notice how hard it was to keep our 6 kids from getting into the berries and finishing them off – ha ha!
I definitely noticed a difference with both the strawberries and the blackberries in the FreshWorks Produce Saver and the original packaging. The berries in the FreshWorks Produce Saver looked close to what they did when I first purchased them, while the other ones looked more dried out, shriveled and squishy. The strawberries in the original packaging actually ended up leaking all over the top shelf of our refrigerator after 2 weeks – yuck! The pictures featured below are after 1 week using the different storage methods (original container versus the FreshWorks Produce Saver).
After completing this challenge, I am totally sold on the FreshWorks Produce Saver! As we all know, keeping produce as fresh as the day you purchased it is no easy task… and there is nothing more frustrating than reaching into the fridge to find that produce purchased earlier in the week has already spoiled. Introducing the FreshWorks™ Produce Saver, an innovative food storage container that uses patented technology to keep produce fresher up to 80% longer.
By extending the life of your fruits and vegetables, the FreshWorks Produce Saver keeps food looking and tasting its very best for longer. FreshWorks features revolutionary FreshVent™ technology to regulate the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide, while the CrispTray™ helps reduce moisture and spoilage to keep produce fresher for up to 80% longer. With the FreshWorks Produce Saver, you can simply move produce from store packaging to the FreshWorks containers before refrigerating to maintain freshness for longer. Ideal for those without a Cellar Cooling System, this simple solution helps your food stay at its best, both in appearance and taste. The FreshWorks Produce Saver is available in three different sizes to fit all produce needs and can hold many types of produce, from berries to leafy greens:
- Small (2.5 Cups): Ideal for small berries
- Medium (6.3 Cups): Perfect for strawberries
- Large (17.3 Cups): Optimal for leafy greens
Here are some interesting facts about produce in America:
1. Reducing Waste: Americans waste 23 billion pounds of fresh produce each year because it spoils before we can eat it. That’s 187 pounds per household. The unique design of the FreshWorks Produce Saver creates the optimal environment to keep produce fresh.
2. Saving money: Americans throw away $24 billion worth of produce each year. That’s $192 per household that could be saved every year by using FreshWorks.
I really loved the FreshWorks Produce Saver and will definitely be using it to store my berries, strawberries and lettuce. A big thanks to Rubbermaid for such a great product!!!
