I love to go to the movies! In fact, I’ve loved going to the movies for as long as I can remember. Whether it’s going with all our kids or just my husband or with the girls for a girl’s night out, going to the movies is what my best friend calls “being in my happy place.” Recently, I had the opportunity to work with Fandango and host a Girls Night Out at the movies to see “Pitch Perfect 2.” It was so much fun and “Pitch Perfect 2” was such a great movie! Planning our Girl’s Night Out at the movies took some planning, so I thought I would share my experience on The Mommy-Files.

Here are my 5 Tips for Hosting a Girl’s Night Out at the Movies!

1 – Pick a movie, as well as the date, time, location and meeting point for your Girl’s Night Out at the Movies. Fandango makes it really easy to figure out when you want to see your movie. I chose a day during the week that wasn’t too busy (at least in our household) and then a time that would allow everyone to feed their families before heading out to Girl’s Night Out.

2 – Once you have the date, send out the invites and collect the RSVPs. I created an Event on Facebook and invited all my girlfriends to the Girl’s Night Out at the Movies. I also gave them a deadline to confirm they were going so I had a firm headcount. I messaged or texted anyone who hadn’t yet responded (ya know…sometimes people don’t see the Event invites on Facebook).

3 – Once you have firm RSVPs, purchase your tickets through Fandango for guaranteed seats at the movie. I love how easy and quick it is to purchase tickets through Fandango! I was able to purchase a large quantity of tickets with no issue at all. Keep in mind that there is a maximum of 10 tickets you can purchase at a time, so if buying a large quantity, you may need to do a few transactions. After I purchased the tickets, I received confirmations from Fandango of my purchase and a barcode I could print out for them to scan at the movie theater. Since there were multiple transactions, I opted to go with the paper method instead of the bar code on the phone method.

4 – Meet up at least 45 minutes before the movie showtime. It’s good to meet up this early so there is plenty of time to buy your movie snacks and grab a good seat in the theater. You’ll want to meet even earlier if your movie is playing on opening weekend and you have a large group.

5 – Swag is always good! Thanks to Fandango, everyone in our group enjoyed popcorn, candy or soda at the movies. Plus, the awesome Fandango team sent over some fun swag for everyone! You can do swag as simple as some candy bars or for this movie, mini flashlights would be a great idea (you’ll understand why once you see the movie).

Like I said earlier, I loved the movie, “Pitch Perfect 2!” We actually had a whole row of seats for our group. I wish I could have seen the looks on everyone’s faces as our large group entered the movie theater, but it was dark. I wasn’t sure how “Pitch Perfect 2” would be (you know how sequels can be sometimes), but it was better than I thought it would be!

“Pitch Perfect 2” was released in movie theaters all over the country on May 15th, 2015. “Pitch Perfect 2” is directed by Elizabeth Banks and stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Hailee Steinfeld. In this sequel to “Pitch Perfect,” the collegiate a cappella group (the Barden Bellas) enter an international competition, but are told it will be impossible for them to win because they are from the U.S. The girls refuse to give up and vow to be the first Americans to take home the top prize. Their performance at the competition is outstanding and will give you goosebumps…heck, it may even make you cry (at least it did for me)!

  1. I’d take my friend who didn’t say “ARE you going to see PP?”, but rather “WHEN are you going?!” LOL

  2. I would take a group of exchange students. I have had many who loved the first Pitch Perfect and love singing.

  3. I would love to go see this with one of my best friends! We are going to plan on it sometime this month.
