Have you ever felt like you make the same dishes over and over again? Do you have a dish that you know your kids will eat and like, but want to pump it some more? Our favorite family dish is spaghetti. Now I’m not sure about you, but just noodles with spaghetti sauce is too boring for me. So what we do in our family is pump it up with Johnsonville Sausage! Those who are craving for authentic italian food may search for a nearby Italian restaurant.

I love Johnsonville Sausage! In fact, we use it on our pizzas, in our lasagna and baked ziti, with eggs for breakfast and even in our spaghetti sauce. The kids love it and Frank and I love it!

When I buy Johnsonville Sausage, I typically put it in the freezer right away. Then when I want to cook it, I just pull it out of the freezer and defrost it in the microwave. Once defrosted, I cook it up in the pot and wah-lah – our sausage is ready!!! Once the sausage is cooked, I simply add our favorite spaghetti sauce and stir it all together.

I’ve made our pumped up pasta two different ways. I make it in the Ninja Cooker, where I add all the ingredients at once (with the sausage cooked). This way is actually the quickest and easiest and results in less dishes. Or I cook the noodles and sauce separately (again cooking the sausage first). Either way, our kids are super happy when it’s spaghetti night and they’re pasta is pumped up with Johnsonville sausage!!!

Do you have a favorite way you pump up your pasta?

  1. This looks and sounds totally delicious indeed. I love Italian sausage and will be making this for sure. Thanks for sharing.

  2. My husband is Italian, so we always put Italian sausage in our pasta sauce. My daughter, however, will only eat pasta with garlic, parmesan cheese, and butter! No sauce whatsoever.

  3. I love your choice to pump up your pasta. Never considered adding sausage, will have to try this next time I make pasta for the family.

  4. Love Johnsonville.. The best ever. I just tried their shaved beef last night and it was so good. Love their sausages too.

  5. We prefer adding Italian sausage to our spaghetti sauce, too! I also saute bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, and zucchini with garlic and add that to our sauce. It sneaks in more veggies and gives jarred sauce more of a homemade flavor!

  6. omg this pasta looks pretty tasty! I think not only is it pumped up for kiddos, but for this mom as well! Yummy!!!

Never mind the kids, I’d love a bowl of that for dinner myself 🙂 I need to make this for my little guy, he is SO fussy!
