As a family, we love to camp!  Ok, so I’m not talking about sleeping on the ground under the stars or in a tent camping.  I’m talking about enjoy the beauty around you with a kitchen and a bathroom available at all times without having to walk in the dark by yourself camping.  Yes, we love our type of camping….and so do our 6 kids!

We used to have a Hybrid Travel Trailer, but with our big family, it was a little tight for us.  We could have continued to use it, but we made a decision that it was time to upgrade and that’s just what we did.  I know quite a bit about pop-up campers, utv trailers and RVs, so I was on the lookout for a good camper van for quite some time. Then we found a place down in Southern California with a lot of options in our price range, so we headed down to take a look.

Shannon and I looked at a few different RVs and caravan storage then found the perfect one for our family! I had seen it online and it was definitely one I wanted Shannon to see. I didn’t have to do any convincing because she was sold on it once we walked through it and she saw we would have our own room and a walk-in bathroom with 2 entrances!  She also liked the flooring in it and the appliances!  The RV we bought was a 2007 Fleetwood Tioga 31M and it is perfect for our family!  It has lots of room for our big family, as well as a kitchen, a walk-in bathroom with a shower in it and a separate bedroom for Shannon and I to sleep in. Let’s not forget that there is tons of storage space in it – perfect for a big family! We had our new RV delivered to us by a local rv transport company.

Shannon made a video to take you on a tour of our new RV.

We have a favorite campsite we like to visit with the kids in Santa Barbara.  There is swimming, miniature golf, ice cream socials, scavenger hunts, hay rides and more. However, keep in mind that there are comfortable and beautiful campsites all over the country such as this inviting RV park. It’s always a good idea to branch out and try other places that you may also fall in love with. There are scenic views and attractive amenities that you and your family will enjoy and you’ll get to experience a new location. The kids love to camp there and they especially loved it this time with our new RV!  We are definitely looking forward to more camping trips with the kids soon!

Have you gone camping in an RV before?  What was your favorite thing about it?

  1. I’ve never been camping in an RV before but have always wanted to! I’m so jealous when I see these driving on the road! Looks like y’all had a nice time!

  2. Robin (Masshole Mommy)

As far as I am concerned, staying in a hotel is camping, so no – I’ve never been in an RV before. Never will, but happy you guys had fun.

  3. I absolutely love camping in an RV! I have done the tent thing, but that wasn’t my cup of tea, nor were the long walks to the restrooms and showers (in the dark) 🙂 You are creating memories that will last a lifetime with those kiddos!

  4. My favorite thing about camping is totally leaving behind the whole “roughing it” aspect. I find camping to be much more fun when I have a nice soft bed. =D

  5. My parents have a 5th wheel and when I had one child, I would go with them when hubby was away. But, with 2, there is no comfortable place for me. So, it becomes my kid-free week at home. My kids absolutely love it and they think that Nana and Papa’s camper is theirs. My little one will tell me “you can stay in OUR camper, Nana won’t mind”. They are making memories and I get a little break.

  6. Thats one comfy looking RV, never been camping in a good RV but been in not to mention kinda one lol. Its always fun when you spend time with family, very important and a blessing

  7. My kids are grown but we used to camp almost every weekend and sometimes for as long as two weeks at a time. We had a 1965 Apache that my husband and I had redone and added a few modern upgrades. We loved that old camper. Once the kids grew up we sold it. Now when we go we are back to a tent. We are saving up to buy one of these when my hubby retires in a few more years and then we will be taking off for good! Can’t wait. Hope you enjoy yours look forward to future updates!

  8. I’ve never been camping and I so want to do it in an RV. I feel like that’s the only way I can really get the experience. Kudos to you doing it with many peoples. I bet it was fun.

  9. I saw instantly why you and Shannon like this model. You two in the front …and all of them in the back. Is there a slider door to close? hahahahah. I just can’t imagine it. (We had 4 so I get it).

  10. We haven’t tried camping in an RV before and I’ll bet it is cool. We haven’t tried any kind of camping actually because the husband would rather go on a road trip than go camping. LOL. But I love to try it. We have to get us an RV first. 🙂

  11. I have gone camping in a RV when i was a kid. I can remember how fun it was to sleep in the bunk bed over the drivers cab. The campfire is always the best part of camping.

  12. I would love to go RV camping so much more than camping in a tent. I get a little uncomfortable without the comforts of home and the RV seems like a happy compromise. Maybe I can convince my husband to camp this way sometime!

  13. this looks like such a great time for the whole family. we’ve never gone rv camping before, but we hope to try it one day. we have a friend who has an rv and just travels around the country with his family one month at a time, and we’ve been talking about possibly doing something similar.

  14. Ohh, camping is so much fun, have the best memories of my childhood. My parents loved mountains so we hiked and camped in tents mostly. But once we had the opportunity to rent an RV for camping in Italy and that was a great experience as well. Doesn’t matter how, but camping is a lot of fun and all kids should have that experience in their life.

  15. Man, we got the short end of the stick as kids but we didn’t even know it. The adults slept inside the RV and we camped in our tents right beside it. It was fun though, camping creates lifelong memories for sure.

  16. I so want an RV some day … we have a lot of kids together and it would be great to take them on a trip in an RV. My step daughter has never gone in an Rv and says she would hate camping, I am here to prove she wilL LOVE it 😉

  17. I have never been camping in an RV ever and love your new used RV. This is what I have wanted forever. I so want one of these to go camping in with the family. Thanks for sharing.
