Kid-Approved Baked Ziti Recipe

Our kids have a tendency to be somewhat picky eaters, so when we find a recipe they love, it’s a pretty great thing!  Tonight for dinner, my sister and I made Baked Ziti.  It was my first time ever making it and she’d made it before (although as a different recipe).  We wanted a recipe that was easy to make and that the family would love.  Well, we scored on this one!!  In fact, my oldest had three servings and all the kids were commenting on how good it was!  Here’s how to make it.

Kid-Approved Baked Ziti Recipe

Ingredients:

– Package of Ziti Noodles
– 2 Jars Ragu Traditional Sauce
– 1 pound Johnsonville Ground Italian Sausage
– 1/4 tsp Garlic Salt
– 8 oz Ricotta Cheese
– 4 cups (or more) Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
– 1/2 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese
– 1 egg, beaten

Directions:

1 – Preheat oven to 350°F.

2 – Cook noodles in boiling water with olive oil added (to prevent noodles from sticking together) and until they are al dente (still somewhat chewy).  Once cooked, drain in sink.  Do not run cold water over the noodles.

3 – Brown the Johnsonville Ground Italian Sausage in a pot and add Garlic Salt to taste.  I used about 1/4 tsp. of it.  Add 2 jars of Ragu Traditional Spaghetti Sauce to the pot and stir.

6 – Add the cheese mixture over the layer of noodles and spread.  Add more noodles.  Add remaining meat sauce.  Top with remaining cheese.

7  – Place in oven for about 45 minutes or until cheese is melted.

8 – Let stand for 5 minutes and serve with salad and bread.  It’s also great just by itself!!  Save leftovers to reheat the next day!
