The Modern Day Brady Bunch

#VacayGoneCrayCray #travel #ad

Yes – you saw that right.  I am finally writing a post on our family with the words, “Brady Bunch” in it.  Frank and I met a little over 2 years ago and are getting married in February 2015.  Together, we have 6 kids.  I have 3 boys and he has 2 girls and a boy.  Whenever we tell people about our family, the response is most often the same – “Oh!  The Brady Bunch!”

Yes, it’s just one of those things.  It’s the second marriage for both of us (although with us it was divorce and not the spouse passing away) and we have a blended family.  And guess what?  We even have bunk beds in our house!  Hee hee!  When people make the comment about the Brady Bunch, I usually laugh.  I’m not laughing at them, but rather the comment (because we hear it a lot).  It’s like the person who says they’re from Kansas and gets the question asking where Toto is.  It doesn’t bother me at all when people say that.  In fact, I used to love watching “The Brady Bunch” when I was a kid.  The only things we’re missing are the dog and the maid.  Any volunteers to be the maid – anyone?  Frank even created a “Brady Bunch” type of logo for his blog (Daddledo).  Pretty cute, right?

Anyways, you may have noticed that I hadn’t written anything on my blog for an entire week.  I was wanting to write on my blog, but the week was just so busy as we had a lot of changes happening in our family.  Earlier this week, Frank’s kids moved into our home on the Central Coast on a full-time basis and all are now enrolled in our local schools.  All the kids were excited to be living together on a regular basis and two of them are even in the same class (in the same grade).  We are now definitely the Modern Day Brady Bunch!

I’m so happy for you guys – congrats! It takes a very strong and loving relationship to endure such a huge commitment. I’m sure you’ll have the ups and downs (which you’ll write about) but am confident it will all work out for the best. You and Frank are so good with kids and patient…

That is all kinds of awesome. I have a step-son, who lives with us full time, but he is 17, so he’s older than my two.

  3. That really is all sorts of awesome. I am guessing the 3 blondes are your boys? Man, they have such gorgeous hair. Looooooooove it. The whole family is adorable! I have a step daughter, shes almost 10 and she’s been with me since she was 3. We only get her on weekends though. We had a brief period where she was going to live with us, but she missed her siblings too much.

  4. I used to love watching The Brady Bunch. I’ve never dealt with a blended family, but it sounds like it could be both a lot of fun and very hectic!

  5. Congrats! Glad that everything is going well blending your two families!! I hear you on the stupid comments everyone stays to you (and thinks it’s original). My husband and I have five daughters. I always get the “I don’t know how do you do it” comment and it makes me want to smack people. 😉

  6. I love your story, maybe because I always wanted a Brady Bunch type family lol. The logo is also super cool! I will check out his blog too!

  7. I do like his Doodle! And hurrah for the kids being there full-time. I know it’s going to be wonderful for everyone! I love having a house full of kids. Mine are slowly growing up and moving out on me, zoiks!
