LeapBand - Fit Made Fun

DISCLOSURE: I received 2 LeapBands from LeapFrog and Clif Kid Bars for my “Fit Made Fun” MommyParty. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

On September 6th, The Mommy-Files participated in a day of “Fit Made Fun” sponsored by LeapFrog and Clif Kid to inspire kids everywhere to get up and active! With its launch of LeapBand, LeapFrog wanted to recognize the importance of active play and celebrate how the LeapBand can make fitness fun and encourage kids and families everywhere to jump into motion to experience the fun of an active, healthy lifestyle.

Leading an active and healthy life is crucial to me, and making fitness fun for my kids is important and I stand behind companies who promote these values. I commend LeapFrog for creating their latest gadget, the LeapBand, which is a wearable “activity tracker made for kids that encourages active play and healthy habits with 50 fun challenges.” The challenges range from “jump like a frog” to “walk like a crab.” Kids can play by themselves or with a group of friends by making the challenges into games like “Frogs on the Lily Pads” or a “Crab Relay Race.”  The more active you are, the more customizable pets and joules you earn. Plus the parents can monitor your activity.

We started our “Fit Made Fun” MommyParty off with snacks. The kids (and moms) enjoyed Clif Kid Zbar Protein Bars in 3 flavors: Chocolate Chip; Chocolate Mint; and Peanut Butter Chocolate. The Chocolate Mint was the first to disappear; however, my favorite is the Peanut Butter Chocolate bar. With chocolate faces, I sent the kids outside with the LeapBands to play. Since these kids were older (5-7), they didn’t want nor need any assistance with these gadgets. They were off and running…literally…and jumping…and laughing.  They were active!  With few breaks, these kids wore themselves out (you’re welcome mommies)!  And just look at these faces – the really dirty faces!

One of my favorite features of the LeapBand are the parental controls – I can set School/Quiet modes.   If the kids try to play during the quiet mode, all they can see if a cute monkey pointing to the time. Boy, I wish I could have seen my daughter’s face after talking about all the games and features of the LeapBand and when she went to turn it on for show-and-tell at school all it was was a watch. Bahahaha! Her teacher came up to me after school and thanked me and praised LeapFrog for creating those control parameters. I also like that it is rechargeable and is water-resistant.

After talking with my kids, Caitlyn’s favorite features, of course, deal with customizing your pets and making up your own challenges. Carter likes the games and pet nurturing where he can feed, groom, and care for his pet.

Even though my kids are at the tail end of the age spectrum (ages 4-7), they are enjoying the extras the LeapBand has to offer like in Pet Chef where they can help their pet collect food to make healthy snacks and unlock nutrition fun facts.

The LeapBand comes in 3 colors: green, blue, and pink; and can be purchased anywhere where LeapFrog is sold.  Perfect for birthdays and Christmas!

Now, jump like a kangaroo!

What’s your favorite activity to get your kids moving?
