School is almost here and that means back-to-school shopping is happening for our 6 kids.  One of our favorite places to shop for clothes is Kohl’s.  We found lots of goodies at Kohl’s that made back-to-school shopping a breeze.  In fact, we not only saved money, but we earned Kohl’s cash at the same time!  For this round, we only took half the kids shopping.  We’ll be shopping with the other half on a different trip before school starts.

I loved how many great deals we got on our shopping trip!  We bought each of our kids jeans, multiple shirts, dresses for Teah and Corrine, a sweatshirt for Ian and backpacks for Teah and Ian.  We also picked up some school supplies from Kohl’s as well, thanks to Office Max.  I love being able to shop for all their back-to-school items at the same time!  They loved looking through the racks and finding the clothes they liked.  I liked seeing the sales prices and knowing that they were actually buying clothes they would wear to school.  I mean, we all know what it’s like to have someone buy you clothes that you’ll never wear.

TIPS FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL SHOPPING WITH KIDS

1 – Have a plan for shopping.  When I say this, I mean that you should have an idea of what you want to buy them.  Do they need jeans, shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, socks, underwear, school supplies, etc.

2 – Set a budget.  We budgeted a certain amount for each child.  We also had a cushioned amount available – just in case we went over the set budget amount.

3 – Let your kids choose clothes.  While you definitely have the right as a parent to veto their outfits, letting your kids pick out their clothes makes the experience of buying and wearing more special to your child.  He or she will be proud to wear the clothes picked out and will appreciate them more too.

4 – Bring snacks and water.  Ok, I have to admit that I had one bottle of water with me and a bag of sour gummy worms, which I split with the girls in the dressing room.  I would definitely make sure to bring mess-free snacks and water in the future!

5 – Plan to shop during the sales.  We intentionally waited to shop today because starting today through Sunday, we could get 15% off our purchase, plus earn $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent.  We walked away saving over $700 on our clothing purchase and $70 in Kohl’s Cash.  How awesome is that??!!!

6 – Get as much shopping done in one place.  One thing I loved about back-to-school shopping at Kohl’s this year was the fact that they partnered with Office Max, which means I could also purchase school supplies for the kids at the same time.  With a big family, we like to minimize the number of places we go to when shopping for back-to-school items.

Through Sunday, you can get 15% off your purchase and earn $10 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent with a Kohl’s Rewards Card.  It’s totally worth signing up for!  Plus, you can find clothing and school supplies at Kohl’s!  Back-to-School shopping at Kohl’s is definitely the way to go!

  1. OMG this is so funny but my daughter bought that exact same blueish and white striped shirt and my son bought that Anubis shirt from Kohl’s on our last trip! Our kids have the same taste!

  2. I need to get my son some Fall clothing – pants, long sleeve shirts and jeans. I love Kohls for his everyday clothes!

My children need alot of items. They seem to be growing faster than I can keep clothes on them. Def new jeans and shoes.

  4. we still need backpacks and utensils like pencils and pens. 🙂 probably could use some papers and folders too!

  5. I need tennis shoes for the girls for gym and a pair of flats or cute sandals for my oldest to wear every day. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway!
