Our Wedding – We Found My Wedding Band!!!

Can you believe our wedding is less than 8 months away?  Woo hoo!  I am so excited (can you tell – just a little bit)?  We are slowly preparing for our wedding – with Wedding Cruise reservations, Save the Dates, Invitations, hiring a wedding videographer, Wedding Ring shopping and more!  I love it – especially since it’s leading up to the day when I marry my best friend and become Mrs. Shannon Gurnee!

I am so in love with the engagement ring that Frank bought me.  It looks absolutely beautiful on my hand and I can’t help but admire it with a smile from time to time (probably more frequently than I care to admit – hee hee).  At first I wasn’t sure I wanted a wedding band because I was happy enough with the single ring itself.  However, after browsing the jewelry store on one of our cruises, I fell in love with the idea of having a wedding band to go with my engagement ring.  I found one I really liked, but it was around $500 (normally almost $1000). I recently found out keeper ring meaning and I loved it so much I’m going to use one after my wedding. We decided to wait (more my decision than his) and look at the jewelry stores when we got home.

About a week after returning from our cruise, Frank and I visited one of our local jewelry stores and found a similar ring, but it was still so expensive.  Now you should understand – I’m not a cheapskate, but there is no way I wanted to spend $1000 on my wedding band!  So we found the style I liked and started to for it on Amazon.com.

One of our favorite websites to shop on is Amazon.com.  There is so much you can find and buy on there!  From books to movies to toys to jewelry!  Yes, I said jewelry people!  We found the wedding band style I fell in love with and only paid $229!  Can you believe it?  They look gorgeous together!  We’ll be soldering them together before the wedding and then I’ll get to wear them on our wedding day and from that point on!  Woo hoo!

  1. love your wedding band…i love understated rings. my cousin’s wife has one that is too full of diamonds, it’s kind of gaudy to me.
my first husband and i picked my ring out together. he had an idea of what he wanted and luckily it matched mine. my second husband picked out the ring on his own, and i told him that whatever he got it had to be at least a carat for the main stone lol it’s a pretty awesome ring. too bad none of my marriages worked out. i still have the ring from my 2nd ex, since we just split up last year….but i wish i had the one from my first ex. i had to pawn it back then to make ends meet 🙁 that ring means more to me than the one i still have, because he is the father of my girls…well, along w other reasons, but that’s another story haha

  2. My husband did this entire town scavenger hunt using a GPS to program locations in that I had to go to retrieve another clue. The proposal ended with a dress laid out on my bed and a candle lit dinner. It was pretty elaborate and special. Congrats on your proposal! Those nails look great! I’m sure you are counting down the days!

  3. My hubbie and I worked together to find my engagement ring which some people found odd because it wan’t a surprise. It’s ok though because the proposal was the surprise and I of course was super happy about the ring I picked out!!

  4. We started with a matching set. Over time it just got to be too much for me. I like things simple. So we sold that and used the money to buy matching clauddah bands. Since hes Scottish and I am Irish it just worked out well. Sadly, he kept losing his bands. He works in a hospital and the rubber gloves would rip. So he would remove them and then they would get lost in his car or here at home. I got tired of getting replacement bands. For our anniversary a few years ago he bought me this amazing wedding ring that had a antique feel. I love it. This year for Valentines he purchased the band that goes along with it.

  5. I have a neat ring story. We went ring shopping and I choose a home over a diamond ring. Owning our own home was so important to us…plus we wanted lake property. I told my hubby for our 25th anniversary he needed to buy me a carat diamond ring. On our 25th anniversary he presented me with a Ice Diamond 1.3 carats – it is beautiful. He never forgot! We have been together for 36 years and still live in the home we purchased.

I had no idea that Amazon sold jewellery. I am on my way to the site now to check it out. I love your rings!!!!

  7. Very nice. I love the deal that you got too. Never would of thought to go to Amazon.

My special story is that my Mom gave me the wedding set that my Dad gave her. My Dad died when my mom was pregnant with me and so I never knew him. I still have that wedding set and I have been married 37 years.

  8. My husband to me gave me my engagement ring at Christmas and proposed by hanging the ring on the Tree. It was a magical time and I said yes that Christmas Day! I like your ring. It is so pretty!

  9. Beautiful engagement ring and band, no special story here because I am not engaged or married. You are right amazon is the best online shopping ever!

Such a beautiful set, it looks perfect on your finger. I love that you’re getting it soldered together so that they will sit right on your hand all the time.
I found my perfect wedding ring right after we got engaged in St. Thomas while we were on a cruise, but it was WAAAAY too expensive. We ended up getting something similar at the same jewelry galary that was within our price range that was one of a set of three. The next year we got the second piece and were saving for the 3rd piece when I accidentally threw away the first two because I had gained weight and I wasn’t wearing them because they didn’t fit. BOOHOO!! We did get some money from our homeowners (I had forgotten to add the 2nd piece onto the policy), but not enough to replace them.
On our next cruise, we went to the galary and I saw the original ring I wanted before we got married and tried I to and it fit perfect. They gave me full credit for the two rings that were lost and we were able to put the rest on a payment plan. I have my dream ring and Bill has one from the same galary that matches.

  11. When my mother passed away I was given her engagement ring, which looks almost just like yours, it has tiny hearts cut out on each side of the square and the wedding band could be a double to yours. These are what I used when I married. I wish I could show you a picture.
