In our home, dinner is the main meal where I make sure we all sit down at the table together as a family.  I have to admit that I’m not as good with breakfast.  In the mornings, the kids are usually eating breakfast while I’m making lunches and double-checking backpacks to make sure homework, permission slips, jackets and lunches are where they’re supposed to be.  Thanks to Hungry Jack, I had the chance to Bring Back Breakfast with my family.

As a participant in the Hungry Jack Weekend Breakfast Brigade, I was provided samples of some yummy Hungry Jack products and was ready to put them to work and into our tummies.  This past weekend, we were carving pumpkins with the kids and I thought I would try making Pumpkin Spice Pancakes for the family.  I have to admit that I was a little nervous my family wouldn’t like the pancakes, but I was way wrong.  They loved them!!!

Making the pancakes was simple and quick!  All I had to do was add water and mix together.  I tried to make them into the shapes of pumpkins, but, uh, they didn’t exactly turn out the way I planned.  However, let me say again, everyone loved them, especially when I added whipped cream to the top!

So, how does a parent “Bring Back Breakfast” in their home?  Here are 3 tips I’ve discovered with our big family:

1 – Put away all electronics.  Yes, that even means me (a blogger) puts away my cell phone.  Without the distractions of electronics, you and your family will have the chance to have meaningful conversations and form bonds that will last a lifetime.

2 – Make extras.  With a big family, I’ve learned to make LOTS of food so there is plenty for seconds and thirds.  Heck, if you have leftovers, pancakes or waffles can be great snacks throughout the day.

3 – Use paper plates.  I know, it’s not exactly the green thing to do, but by using paper plates, it gives me more time to spend with my family that I might otherwise spend at the sink while doing dishes.

  12. fall is one of my favorite time of years, it calms down a bit and we can all meet for breakfast at least a few times a week. We plan it out and all get involved and the conversation is awesome during planning and at table eating

I love the Hungry Jack Microwaveable Syrup! We like to cook breakfast on the weekends. My kids love pancakes, waffles, and French Toast. The kids also like when Dad makes hashbrowns for them. I think bacon should be served for breakfast every day, too.

We have a homemade “big breakfast” every sunday! But during the week we opt for frozen pancakes and waffles, but winning this just might make me wake up earlier to make them fresh daily!

  16. We never do during the week, but on the weekends, we love to make a big breakfast together – sometimes waffles, sometimes a frittata, always tasty!

  17. Our mornings are so rushed, and my kids have so many things they need to be prepared for. I think making a good, healthy breakfast for them is super important. I do a lot of little extras at night, to prepare for the next day, so I can have time to make sure my kids are well fed before they head off for a long day!
