Can you believe how quickly the year has gone by and that the holidays are almost here? I can’t believe it!  With a large family, we are starting to look for ways to cut our expenses so we can afford to have a good Christmas day experience with our 6 kids.  I know for a fact that being on my own cell phone plan (with a contract) was ridiculously expensive!  We’re talking almost $200 for a cell phone plan that has the Talk, Text & Web features.  Let’s not forget that I would incur a huge penalty if I broke out of my contract early!  Frank and I are now on a plan together, but still paying around $75 per phone (with 3 phones).  How can we save money on our mobile plans and be able to stay in touch with family and friends?  The answer is Walmart’s Family Mobile Plan.

We headed over to our local Walmart to check out what savings we could find from signing up for the Walmart Family Mobile Plan.  I was so surprised by how affordable the phones and start-up kits were.  The phone I liked the best was the Concord – only $49.88.  I also purchased a Start-Up Kit for $25.00.  You can see more of my shopping trip HERE.

Not only was the Concord Mobile Phone and Start-Up Kit budget-friendly, the Walmart Family Mobile Plans were way affordable!  For a Talk & Text Plan, you’re looking at only $29.88 a month and with the Talk, Text & Web Plan, you’re looking at $39.88 a month.  I especially love the fact that there is  NO contract!!!  That means no penalties if you end the service at any time!  Plus, you can add up to 5 lines and receive a $5.00 discount on each plan.  If you purchase the Extra Pack, you can have the option to purchase ringtones and games, as well as roam internationally and call long-distance to select countries.

Once we had the Concord phone set up with the SIM card, it was time to get registered on Walmart’s Family Mobile site where I could manage my bills, services and account information.  16 to 18 days after activation, I will receive a text message with billing information.  There will be no paper bill mailed.  The first bill will be prorated (only charging for the days used up to that point) and will be due approximately 30 to 35 days from the day the phone was activated.  Seems simple enough right?  It’s super easy!

Thanks to Walmart’s Family Mobile Plan, we will be to keep in touch with family and friends this holiday season and enjoy an affordable smartphone at an affordable price!  You can see how other bloggers and their families are saving as well by checking out the posts on Twitter using the hashtag #FamilyMobileSaves #cbias.

What would you use the money for if you were able to find a more budget-friendly family mobile plan?
