Boating Memories From This Summer

Discover Boating Maui 1

This summer, I had the opportunity to participate as a Discover Boating Ambassador.  It gave me the opportunity to share some of my childhood memories, as well as safety tips I’ve learned while being an ambassador.  As a mother, it is my top priority to ensure our children are having fun, but doing also being safe while boating.  I remember going out on our family’s boat when we went fishing or just riding around for fun.  There were rules in place so we could have fun and be safe at the same time. I have great memories of those times as I hope our children do as well. Those who love fishing with their family may consider booking fly fishing trips or even purchase their own boat from a local new boat sales shop and then prepare its boat storage space.

This summer, Frank and I headed to Maui with my 3 boys for my sister’s wedding.  While in Maui, we had the opportunity to go on a submarine ride.  Yes – a real submarine!  In order to get to the submarine, we had to take a boat out to deeper waters.  I was a little nervous at first, but it was a great ride.

I loved the feeling of the wind and water on my face, not to mention the beautiful view we had from the boat!  The boys sat in their seats and listened to the captain attentively.  They were so excited to be in a boat and heading to a submarine.  Before heading out on the water, Frank and I told the boys that they needed to sit still (i.e. no running around or rough housing on the boat) and needed to pay attention to the captain of the boat as he talked about the trip and instructed us on how to board the submarine.  They did an awesome job and had a ton of fun!

  1. I LOVE being out on the water! Unfortunately we didn’t make it out on the lake or to a full sized boat this year. We had to settle for paddle boats. lol Looks like you had some great times!

  2. Okay, I love boating and would love to get out on the water. Living in Florida I would love to own a boat but instead have kayaks. However a submarine, yikes – you can keep that trip. Something about being completely under water is just frightening.

  3. Although we never owned a boat, I love being on one. We try to go boating on vacations. I just love any chance to be close to water. However, I will not go on a submarine. I am too claustrophobic to even try.

  4. I love boat rides! I have a friend who owns a boat and invites us out for a ride every summer. My hubby was talking about getting one before next summer comes. I hope so because I think it would be nice to be take the boat out when we go camping. Hubby and I have been on a submarine while vacations in Hawaii. It was fun!
