I was introduced to Merci Chocolates over the holidays and let me tell you, they are GOOD!!!! In fact, when we had family and friends over visiting, we offered to share with them and they LOVED them!! With the Academy Awards happening this past weekend, it was time to roll out the red carpets. One of the highlights of these annual star-studded evenings that is filled with celebrities in their beautiful gowns and pressed tuxes is the emotional and meaningful thank you speeches.
One of my favorite speeches during the Academy Awards was when Jennifer Lawrence genuinely played off the fact that she had just tripped walking up the stairs. She even got a standing ovation. Heck, she said that it was because everyone felt sorry for her, but I think that was only part of it. I believe that she received the positive response for two reasons. First, she is an awesome actor! And second, she presented herself with grace, genuineness, and an overall good attitude – even after doing something so embarrassing in front of her peers and the world watching her through the television.
As I was watching these great actors and actresses give their emotional and meaningful speeches, I remembered how important it is to give those who mean the most in your life a meaningful thank you – and not just once a year either. Giving a meaningful thank you is a heartfelt way to show those important to you that you truly appreciate them every day.
If you were a star sharing your thank-yous on stage, who would you give a meaningful thank you to? I would thank my parents for helping me to grow into the woman I’ve become. I would thank my children for helping me to become the best mother I could be. I would thank my boyfriend for being supportive to me through thick and thin and for loving me despite my shortcomings. I would thank the friends in my life who are there for me to talk to, no matter the time of the day, and who uplift and encourage me in making the best choices in life.
