Growing up, I was constantly told by my parents, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.”  I can easily say that as a parent myself, our kids do have breakfast every day before going to school.  It isn’t typically eggs, bacon, and pancakes though.  It’s usually cereal, milk and gogurts – because those are quick to prepare and on most days, the mornings seem to fly by!  However, after hosting our breakfast, I was amazed to find how quick and yummy the Jennie-O bacon and sausage was to prepare.

So, why is it so important to have a healthy breakfast in the morning?  A healthy breakfast with a low-fat protein like Jennie-O turkey bacon and sausage can help children focus and stay alert in class.  This leads to better grades and an increase in learning, as well as retaining those new pieces of information they learn throughout the day.  It’s giving our kids a daily tune-up so they can do the best job at school possible!

Over the weekend, we hosted a Jennie-O Champions for Kids breakfast with our kids and some friends.  I had not had turkey bacon in a long time and had never had turkey sausage before.  In preparation for the breakfast get-together, I headed to Walmart and picked up my supplies for the breakfast – including Jennie-O turkey bacon, Jennie-O turkey sausage, eggs, cheese, gogurts, and orange juice.  I was surprised at how easily I was able to find the Jennie-O products – with their bright green packages.  The breakfast was only a few hours away, so I had to get home and start cooking!

When I cook bacon, I typically cook over the stove – and that’s what I did with the turkey bacon.  And let me tell you, it turned out really good!  The kids are picky eaters, so we decided to make them scrambled eggs and bacon, along with gogurts and orange juice to drink.  The scrambled eggs I make are some of the kids’ favorites and so easy to make!  All you need are eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and Greek seasoning and wah lah – Yummy Scrambled Eggs!

For the adults, we made Omelets with bacon and sausage in them, as well as on the side.  Everyone really enjoyed their food and was surprised at how tasty the turkey bacon actually was!  I loved how quickly the turkey bacon cooked and how flavorful it was as well.

Love the Jennie O turkey burgers. I haven’t tried the bacon, but I’ll have to check that out – looks good!

I admit I’ve been a bit scared to try out the turkey bacon and sausage, but it sounds like it isn’t too bad. And I’m much rather give that to my kids than the other stuff. When I give them regular bacon and sausage, I feel like I am starting their day off unhealthy.

We have tried SOME kind of bacon years ago, but don’t know if it’s Jennie O. Have not tried the sausage. I wish we could get my husband switched over. He eats SO much of this stuff and I know the regular kind is not the best for you.

    It all looks deLISH!
