“Parental Guidance” In Theaters on Christmas Day + Giveaway

Parental Guidance Logo

You’ll both laugh and cry when you watch Parental Guidance this holiday season.  Frank and I saw a screening of the movie and we both really enjoyed it a lot!  I think we enjoyed it mostly because we could totally relate (with the exception of not giving our kids sugar).  How often do we as parents hear how our parents would do it if our child were actually their child?  Way too many times!  Parental Guidance (Rated PG) comes to theaters from Twentieth Century Fox on Christmas Day and it’s a movie you won’t want to miss!

Old school grandfather Artie (Billy Crystal), who is accustomed to calling the shots, meets his match when he and his eager-to-please wife Diane (Bette Midler) agrees to babysit their three grandkids when their type-A helicopter parents (Marisa Tomei, Tom Everett Scott) go away for work.  But when 21st century problems collide with Artie and Diane’s old school methods of tough rules, lots of love and old-fashioned games, it’s learning to bend – and not holding your ground – that binds a family together.

  1. My Mom use to always say “Work smart, not hard”, I’m still trying to figure out how to do that and make a living at the same time, LOL!

  2. The advice I got was to do good in school so we could get a good job one day and it would pay off. I didn’t much listen and regret that now

  3. My parents give me advice all the time. Sometimes, it’s more forceful and phrased as “suggestions”. I ask for their advice mostly on discipline.

  4. My Mom doesn’t offer advice a lot as she tends to stay out of others people’s business but my Dad is always giving me advice on everything, anytime I come to him with an issue

  5. They always tell me to “keep my eye on the prize,” which is helpful advice when I start to get stressed or frustrated at work or in my home life!

  6. Never really gave any advice. I learned what not to do by watching them. I loved them but they made many mistakes in life that taught us all lessons. thank you!

  10. My folks always said: You can be anything you want to be. (this was pretty unusual to tell a girl child in 1955)
    Thanks for the contest.

they told me,”be not a lender nor a b orrower be” an is that so true espically with family,,dont lend money or borrow it from friends or family

  13. My parents always told me to say thank you when receiving any kind of gift, whether it’s something I liked or wanted or not. They taught me a spirit of gratefulness.

  14. Unfortunately, my parents were ot around when I was younger, so most of what I learned in life came from my own experiences.

  16. My mom always told me to enjoy high school because time goes so fast and before I know it I will be a grandmother.

  17. to always be nice to people…and not burn bridges…those people may be underwriting your mortgage one day 🙂

  18. My Mother told me not to marry anyone unless I like his parents because once you marry, you are stuck with them. Truer words were never spoken!

  19. My mom taught me almost everything I know. The best advice she gave me was to be the person I can be proud of at all times.

  20. My parents told me to always be myself. That I didn’t have to impress anyone and if people didn’t like me for me then it was their problem not mine.

  21. Wowzers, I don’t remember any advice from my mom, she was very free spirited so , she never really said anything until I was in my late teens… the one thing she did say was “When falling in love, be careful not to fall for the wrong guy, he needs to have a good sense of humor and it needs to work “everywhere” including the bedroom!” LOL Yes, she did tell me that! Also told me that “we don’t have kids for ourselves, but for others…eventually, they do leave and marry”. OUCH! LOL Love my mom! lol

  22. My dad gave me lots of tips about driving on slippery roads–still need them even today since although I no longer live in Minnesota, it can be even worse here in Oklahoma because it is so frequently ice on winter days!

My parents taught me that a stranger is a friend that I haven’t met yet. Always treat everyone as a friend.
