Planning a Trip to San Francisco, California with Gogobot #GogobotTravel
I love to travel and with traveling comes planning! That is where Gogobot comes in handy – a social travel site that launched in 2010. Gogobot has racked up accolades including being named one of Time’s top sites of 2011 and winner of the 2010 Crunchie award for Best Design. Gogobot’s big win is that it allows you to connect with your friends to get their advice on where to visit, what to eat, and where to stay when you travel. You can use the service to plan things ahead of time, or you can poll your friends on the fly. With our upcoming trip to San Francisco, Gogobot will definitely come in handy!
Searching on the site was easy! I simply entered my destination and it took me to a site where I found lots of helpful information for my trip. I was able to browse through the list of hotels in the area, including the Fairmont, Hilton, Omni, and more. I was particularly interested in the Omni Hotel at San Francisco, since I’ve stayed in Omni Hotels before. Gogobot provides a rank # for the hotel, average rating based on reviews, phone number, and amenities provided at the hotel. What’s even better is that you can book your hotel stay right there on the site!
Plus, there were lots of things to do while in or near San Francisco. One of the sites I’ve wanted to visit for the longest time is Alcatrez Island, once a prison for some of America’s most dangerous criminals and now part of the National Park Service. By visiting Gogobot, I could get information on its ranking of things to do (#3), the average rating based on a variety of reviews, the category it falls under, open hours, website, phone number and a description of the activity.
There is also a section with the top restaurants in San Francisco. One that I wanted to check out was Ghirardelli Square. San Francisco’s most iconic treats are the chocolaty confections crafted by Ghirardelli Chocolate, a local institution since 1852. Again, you can find the ranking of the restaurant, ratings from reviewers, the type of cuisine offered, hours, phone number, website and description.
In addition to hotels, restaurants and attractions, you’ll find suggested neighborhoods in San Francisco to visit. One of them is Fisherman’s Wharf. According to Gogobot, Fisherman’s Wharf is the most popular stop, Pier 39, is a collection of shops, restaurants, performers and an always-barking family of seals. Rows of seafood stands lead up to the Musée Mécanique, an old warehouse filled with vintage arcade games, and just steps away is the unbelievable Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum.” There is so much information on Gogobot about the neighborhood and activities to do that are near the neighborhood. Gogobot is definitely awesome!
And when you are not in vacation mode or planning a trip, you can discover hidden gems in your own neighborhood for entertaining guests or a weekend staycation.
The best part? Every page on Gogobot is personalized. You can see reviews from your friends and people you are following at the top, which allows you to weed out the noise and fraudulent reviews that become a problem on other review sites. Check out Gogobot today!
