Educating Our Family One Light Bulb at at Time with the GE Lighting Educational Project #GELighting #CBias

As a mom of 3 boys working from home, I look for any way I can to cut costs out of the budget.  Well, I found a way to save on my electric bills – with GE Energy Smart Bulbs, the savings add up quickly!  The boys and I headed to our local Walmart in search for light bulbs to purchase and replace in our home.  As part of my partnership with GE, I received coupons for my GE light bulbs. All opinions posted about my GE Lighting experience are my own.

We went to Walmart right after picking up my oldest from school.  Just as we walked in the door, my niece and nephew ran up to me.  I hadn’t seen them in a while and was so happy to see their happy faces and get hugs from them!  After visiting, we headed to the McDonalds in the store and got Brian and Dallen ice cream cones for an after-school snack.  Then we headed to the lightbulb section and let me tell you, there were so many to choose from!

Did you know that in January, new legislative changes will change what light bulbs can be manufactured and sold?  GE energy-efficient soft white light bulbs will be the closest available alternative to traditional incandescent bulbs.  At Walmart, there are 3 different light technology options.

After checking out EESW (Halogen) and GE CFL (spiral or Bright from the Start), we really liked the spiral GE CFL bulbs.  I like the light that was emitted, not to mention the savings we would gain from using them.  Every dollar counts in our home and this is one of the easiest ways to save on our electric bill.  It was amazing the difference in the quality of light when I switched out our old light bulbs for the new Energy Smart bulbs.  The light was better for reading, crafting, and more!

We’ll be working on a project as a family as well with the GE light bulbs.  I wonder how much money we can actually save by replacing our light bulbs with the Energy Smart bulbs?  Stay tuned!  Be sure to follow GE Lighting on Twitter and Facebook.  Also, check out my Google+ Story.

  1. We changed all of our light bulbs a couple of years ago and I’ve been VERY happy with them! We’ve made a lot of energy efficient changes and are able to pay considerably less each month in energy bills than everyone else we know!

  2. I can’t wait to hear how much you’ll be saving! I am in process of making the change to CFLs (and a few LEDs) now!
I also want an ice cream cone… 😉

A lot of people want to see immediate savings, but changing the bulbs are a long term money saver. We switched and it really has an impact.
