Have a Golden Thanksgiving with Butterball + Giveaway

Every year in our home, we celebrate Thanksgiving as a family and part of the celebration involves a delicious dinner.  We include stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a Butterball Turkey.  Of all the brands available, Butterball is my favorite!

I remember being a little girl and going to the store with my mom.  There were so many turkeys to choose from, but she said that we always buy Butterball!  Nothing compares to the tender and juicy taste of a Butterball turkey.  Gosh, just thinking about the golden and juicy Butterball turkey makes my mouth water!

This holiday season, we’re going to be celebrating again with a Butterball turkey, but there are some new developments that will make the holiday a little better!  A Butterball Cookbook Plus app is now available to help families prepare early for their Thanksgiving meal.  In the Butterball Cookbook Plus app, you’ll find recipes, a meal builder, and a store section.  My favorite part of the app was the “Info” section.  In this section, you’ll find a section with Conversions, Substitutions, a Shopping List, Timers, How-To Videos, Articles, and an About section.  The app retails for $4.99.

This Thursday, November 15th is Golden Thursday – the Black Friday of Thanksgiving and to celebrate, we’re giving away two vouchers – each good for $20 towards a Butterball turkey purchase!  But first, here are a few of our own golden rules of Thanksgiving.

1 – Prepare a menu about a week ahead, to ensure you have a list of all necessary ingredients for your feast.

2 – Shop for your ingredients at least five days before Thanksgiving.  Nothing is worse than running out of an ingredient when you’re cooking, heading to the grocery store, and finding the store all sold out of the item you need!

3 – Buy a Butterball Turkey and put in your refrigerator to thaw – at least one day for every 4 pounds of turkey.  If a speedy thaw is necessary, thaw the turkey in cold water.  Do not thaw at room temperature.

4 – Start preparing dinner early in the morning on Thanksgiving Day.  Have a list with order of items you’ll be preparing (budgeting oven time for the various dishes).

5 – Encourage family members to help out – whether it’s preparing appetizers, side dishes or desserts.  This takes a lot of the stress off the primary cook of the home.

My golden rule is prepping everything the night before and getting up at 5 or 6 am and start popping food especially the turkey in the oven! Get the family in by 11am for a delicious brunch and get em out by 2pm! Enjoying the rest of the day peacefully preparing for late night Black Friday shopping! Butterball is our only choice of turkey in this house! Nothing else compares!

  2. 1. Make arraignments for where our family will be having our Thanksgiving!
    2. Gather & buy all ingredients for my homemade cornbread stuffing, pecan pie, and pumpkin pie.
    3. Prepare & cook stuffing and pies at least a day ahead. I usually get all my stuffing vegetables chopped 2 days before, with cooking up my southern cornbread.
    4. My children & I have developed the tradition of making cute homemade menus of what is being served, the kids also like to dress up like restaurant wait staff and serve appetizers.

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  3. One of my Golden Rules is to always make at least on ‘new’ dish during Thanksgiving- you never know it may become a new tradition!

  4. My golden rules are to get everything I need for thanksgiving when it is on sale, keep my pets out of the kitchen while cooking the food, buy a butterball turkey, baste the turkey often, put the turkey in early and let it cook for a lower temperature for a longer time, have everyone help prepare the side dishes and desserts and most importantly have fun and not get all stressed out

  5. Make the pies the night before. Get a good night’s sleep. Get the turkey in the oven by 5:00. Make the stuffing and don’t bake it in the turkey. Have the table set the night before. Ask for help. Clean up as you go. Enjoy.

  6. Golden rules of Thanksgiving are …
eat at the dining room table instead of the television.
turn your cell phones off and actually connect with the people in front of you.

  7. My golden rule is to remember to have fun. We want totally tasty food, but don’t stress too much and enjoy cooking in the kitchen together as a family!

  8. The golden rule is that we have my grandmother’s recipe for stuffing and that there is a southern dish on the menu (as my mother was born in the south).

  9. MY GOLDEN RULE IS THAT EVERYONE SITS THE TABLE TOGETHER AND THE TV IS OFF.
I LOVE THANKSGIVING WITH OUR FAMILY!
    THANKS FOR THE GIVEAWAY!

  10. always…ALWAYS….have pumpkin pie for thanksgiving dessert…then again i keep the ingredients for pumpkin pie on hand year round lol

  11. My Golden Rule is that after I spend all morning cooking, everyone helps to clean up so that I’m not stuck in the kitchen and can enjoy the remainder of the day.

  12. Golden Rules For Thanksgiving – Thanksgiving is whenever we all as family can get together. Turkey rules and everyone brings something for the meal so that the family member who is hosting doesn’t have to do everything.

  13. My golden rule is stay out of my kitchen while I’m fixing Thanksgiving dinner! I got it all under control. You never helped me before, don’t start now. The one phrase y

  14. My Golden Rule of Thanksgiving is to Spend Quality Tine with Family Members Because You Never Know How Long Your Loved Ones will be around!

  15. My golden rule for Thanksgiving is to NOT feel guilty for eating two pieces of pumpkin pie for dessert. I mean it’s one day a year right?!

  16. I do everything I can the night before so that it helps me on Thankgiving day and gives me more time with my family.

  17. I don’t have many rules but my big one is I have to boil a whole chicken to shred into my dressing and use the fresh chicken broth instead of canned. It’s amazing the difference that it makes.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

Stay out of my way in the kitchen lol too many people in there trying to do many things at once just causes stress!

  19. I make the kids stay out of the kitchen and do everything I can the day before and put the turkey in the oven overnight

  20. Stay out of the kitchen unless you are given a task. It can be overwhelming with so many people in the kitchen at once. We also assign someone to set the table and someone to take drink orders instead of everyone standing in the kitchen.

  21. I really don’t have a lot of rules per se, just to enjoy yourself and have a good time. But I do have one… lol… the men have to help the women wash dishes after the meal instead of sitting around watching football. It gets done quicker, and after I’ve spent the day getting the meal ready it is nice to have the guys pitch in and wash some pots and pans 🙂 then we ALL get to relax and have some good conversation.

  22. My golden rule is to remember that it doesn’t have to be perfect and Thanksgiving is really about spending time with family and friends.

  23. Our rule is relax and have fun, no stress, no timetable, we eat at dinner time and I do all of the cooking…stay out of my kitchen and enjoy!

  24. My Golden Rule is that everyone bring a dish if possible, or drinks, ice, napkins, Chinet plates, etc..

  25. Thanks for the giveaway…Our Golden Rule of Thanksgiving is to practice food safety in the kitchen & to use a food thermometer !

  26. We’re a new family so we haven’t perfected golden rules yet. Our main ones that I can think of is trying to thank God for what He’s given us is a top priortity, making sure we have plenty of time to spend with family, preparing ahead of time so that almost everything is already ready on Thanksgiving Day, and sticking to the budget we planned out for it 🙂

Our Golden Rule is to Pray together as a family and be Thankful for our Family and Friends and our Turkey Dinner and a prayer to our Troops who are in service and to all those less fortunate then we are.

Golden rule is no matter what happens, don’t stress out! Getting angry or overwhelmed defeats the purpose of thanksgiving.

  30. One of our golden rules is sharing. We often have additional guests who don’t have anyone to share the day with. The second big rule is no squabbling.

  31. My golden rule is go to mom’s then you won’t have to cook. My second one is why cook when you can just buy at Wegman’s.
