Our Spinbrush SIMPLE Service Project #SpinbrushCFK

I recently had the opportunity to participate in a Spin Into Action SIMPLE Service Project with Champions for Kids.  For the project, I visited my local Walmart and purchased three Arm & Hammer Spinbrush toothbrushes.  You can read more about my visit in my first blog post on The Mommy-Files and my Google+ story.  I bought three toothbrushes for my boys and then another to donate to our local Women’s Shelter.  I put together a package including Arm & Hammer Spinbrushes, toothbrushes, dental floss, and toothpaste.  I love knowing that these items will go to a good home and will lead to the good oral hygiene of another person.

Something I learned from the Women’s Shelter is that these families that come for assistance often times leave their homes and everything behind.  They come to the Women’s Shelter for assistance in escaping dangerous family situations.  They often arrive with little or no clothing, food, or personal items.

Mothers and their children who are going through the Women’s Shelter have pretty much had their lives turned upside down and have left their homes to seek safety.  I felt that by donating the Spinbrushes to the Women’s Shelter, it might help ease the burden of a child who is starting a new chapter of their life.  It would give him or her the chance to express imagination and creativity by decorating the toothbrush.

Not only would it allow the child to express his or imagination and creativity, but it would also help the child to maintain good oral hygiene.  For our donations, we put together a package including Arm & Hammer Spinbrushes, toothbrushes, dental floss, and toothpaste.  I love knowing that these items will go to a good home and will lead to the good oral hygiene of another person.
