NESTLÉ Gifting Ideas & Giveaway

Christmas is a little more than a week away and you may be rushing around town to purchase last minute gifts…or stocking stuffers.  I love buying gifts for people, but when it comes to answering the question, “What do you want for Christmas,” I go blank!

I do love to receive gift baskets, with a variety of items (especially pampering items, music, or chocolate) and I love homemade items!  Gift cards are always a welcome addition as well.  What are some of your favorite gift ideas?

Be sure to check out NESTLÉ Family Holiday Celebrations, a special site where you can find tips, tools, and inspiration for the holidays.  One article that was inspiring was entitled, “How to Make a Very Special Christmas Stocking.”

Thanks so much for this great giveaway.

  7. Snowflake07 (Audra)

One of my favorite gifts to give are picture frames. Everyone has photos, usually everyone needs an extra frame or two. I really like the sets of frames you can get that are different sizes. I always stick with neutral colors so they’ll go with anything.

  8. I know it may seem like the easy way out, but I love to give (and receive) gift cards. I choose the card based on what the person likes. Who doesnt like to shop or eat out?
    Thanks!

  9. My friend has a DVD recorder and he’ll make copies of movies off of cable. They make great presents, not everybody has TiVo.

  10. I love putting together gift baskets or boxes – filled with sweet things specifically for the gift recipient. I have such fun personalizing these types of gifts for family and friends, whether for the holidays or birthdays or just because …. throughout the year I keep my eyes open for those things I know will please that person.

  11. One of my favorite gifts I’ve received was a restaurant gift card along with an invitation to go out to dinner with my friend.

  12. My latest favorite gift to give is my home made blackberry liquour! Adults only of course! I’ve got blackberry vines and am always looking for things to do with them

  13. magazine subscriptions !! So fun to give, and so stinkin’ cheap (most of them) that you can give several to the same person…and when they get the new issue of their beloved magazine every month, they will think of you! popular mags are Good Housekeeping, Reader’s Digest, Redbook, First For Women, and All You…fun, fun, fun…

  14. I love giving and receiving themed handmade gift baskets.. it’s nice knowing that someone worked hard on making your present perfect 🙂

  15. I love to give handmade items. I am into paper crafting and stamping. I like to stamp my own tumbled marble tile coasters & trivets. They are a big hit as gifts!

  16. When my kids were growing up I gave them coupons. Coupons for things like (depending on age) I will do the dishes, I will iron your shirt, I ‘ll wait an extra 10 minutes(had one daughter always pokey), I will type one paper(before computers), trip to McDonalds or lunch date , I will read to you in the park, I will not say get off the phone (they had a 10 minute limit.), you can stay up till midnight, etc They could use these all year, some of the coupons had repeats. They learn to use coupons wisely.

  17. I enjoy event tickets – a play, a lunch cruise, the Aquarium, that kind of thing. Its a great way to justify a night out 🙂

  18. I used to hate gift cards, but now I love getting them. Home made gifts are also great! I guess I like the thought behind home made, and the freedom of choice of a gift card. I don’t need someone picking out my pajamas.

  19. One of my favorite gifts to give and receive is chocolate! I can’t get enough of it and everyone that I know loves it!

  20. I love to give ..or…to receive…things that are useful…. that aren’t just dust collectors that sit there and look pretty. Home crafted if possible and something that shows some thought went into the selection for that person….giving something that person would like to receive, not just giving everyone on my list the same item.

  22. I like making special gift baskets filled with things that I know the receiver enjoys – I normally have themes – like a “Me Time” gift basket would be filled with spa products of of my sister’s favorite scents etc.

  23. One of my favorite gifts to give is the Williams-Sonoma giant apple covered with chocolate & nuts.
    Thanks for the giveaway…..
    Happy Holidays!

  24. Every year we make ornaments, christmas cookies and other treats (layered jar mixes, fudge, truffles, soaps) and give those to family and friends. They look forward to our treats every year, and it’s a fun activity to do with my son.

  25. susan lee wiener

My fav. gift idea is to give stretch bracelets. Friends and family love them because their comfortable to wear and don’t need any fiddling with the clasp.

    swiener1[at]tampabay.rr.com

  26. I like to give and receive homemade items…whether it be a crafted item like a hat or scarf, or a food item like cookies or candy.

  27. I’ve always loved the Make your own cookies Jars! The ones that have all the dry parts together so all you have to do is add the liquid parts, mix and bake. I love that gift.

  28. I like to put a small gift in a large box and fill it with tissue paper. The person is surprised to dig through the paper to find their gift.

  29. I might be an adult now but I still love getting toys, electronics, those big collector lego kits, etc.

    dbh020384 at gmail dot com

  30. The best gifts to give or receive are gifts that folks would never buy for themselves. My wife, who loves coffee drinks but can’t justify the price of a cappucinno maker is going to be surprised when she opens a Tassimo brewbot. And I love tools. Dremels and power hammers would make me smile.

  31. My sister always gives me gag gifts, and I absolutely love them and look forward to them. This year my gift box included a snuggie and an ambient fireplace DVD. I laughed at the time, but seriously, I’m in love with that snuggie now and wear it ALL THE TIME. And the DVD? no joke – It’s addicting. I leave it on for a few hours every night. I’m getting a copy for everyone I know! Gag gifts are awesome, and occasionally very useful! 🙂

Thanks so much for the chance to win!

  32. I love to get any kind of book…..Love to read and interesting to see what others pick for you. semtaylor(at)yahoo(dot)com

  33. Cloth diapers!!! Lots and lots of cloth diapers! Okay, that would be to receive…To give, I always like doing gift certificates to a nice restaurant for a couple as well as offering up free babysitting for an evening!

  34. If you like to give gift cards but want a nicer presentation, buy the cards in small denominations, so you have lots of them. Buy an inexpensive but appropriate to the occasion floral arrangement, one that has the foam base in it. Get extra pick type card holders for the arrangement and insert the gift cards into them. Then stick the picks into the arrangement, evenly distributing them and making them part of the arrangement. There you go, a gift card and flower bouquet.

  35. I love to give photo books of family events like summer vacations. They are priceless and feature memories that you can easily access and won’t get lost on the computer!

  36. I like practical stuff. Once my friend wrapped up a new package of toilet paper to give me as a joke and I loved it. That just saved me $8.00. She thought I was crazy. Gift cards are always nice.

    tdlsfm(at)gmail(dot)com

  37. Some of the best gifts I’ve ever received have been handmade. The time it took to craft and personalize it just for me, well that made it so so special!

  38. i think a gift card to a craft store is a great idea for a preschool teacher..they have options for themselves or the class there
    nannypanpan at sbcglobal.net

  39. I think one of the best things to give someone is something from their childhood memories. One year I spent months searching for a book my sister and I had when we were kids. She was so happy when she received it (she was pregnant at the time). I think bringing people back a slice of childhood is perfect

  40. I have yet to find one gift idea that works well for everyone, but I have good luck finding books that the recipient wouldn’t have purchased for themselves, but end up enjoying. Gift cards aren’t bad, but I like thinking throughout the year about what to get someone.

  41. Hi and Happy Holidays! 🙂 And I definitely think books, or a way to get books is the best gift for Christmas. Most definitely. Okay, sure, fine, for me, but I imagine that I would be the only one out there who feels that way!!! LOL 🙂

  42. We like to give several games to newly married couples—taboo, pictionary, monopoly, a few decks of cards. It looks pretty all wrapped up individually and stacked. Plus most of the time, the couples don’t have any games yet and you know they’ll keep them for 20 plus years.

  43. Homemade cookies and candies are one of our favorite things to give. We always put some in the boxes we ship to family, and they love it.

  44. I like to make gift baskets to fit someone’s hobby or for a couple’s gift for a wedding or holiday, like spaghetti night, movie night, or spa themed.

    nancymeyer1 at gmail dot com

  45. Gift cards always work – you can find something for even the hardest person to buy for! But homemade gifts are fun too – like homemade cookies & Christmas breads and things! Yum! Thanks!

  47. After worrying about what to give my mother-in-law a co-worker suggested a bookmark, booklight and gift certificate to a book store. Simple to mail and an idea I liked.

  48. I love to bake for people or if I buy a gift card, get one to a store that shows I’m paying attention to their interests.

    wolverina401 at gmail dot com

  49. I think making customized baskets for someone is the best, for instance one year I made my sister in law a cookie baking basket since she loves to bake…I got the pans, spices, different kinds of chips like peanut butter and butterscotch and chocolate, sprinkles to decorate sugar cookies and I topped it all off with a huge beautiful cookie cookbook
    pedidentalasst@yahoo.com

  50. What i do is I love to find great recipes and give people really delicious dishes that I know they would enjoy. Also, giving women anything scented usually works, and men anything such metal, steel or shiny usually works

  51. I love to give my daughter cute little gift bags she likes to collect. It saves on wrapping paper! 🙂

    itsjustme62613 at gmail.com

  52. I like unique gifts, buying things that others would not have thought to buy themselves. I got my mother-in-law a beautiful decapoged plate made by a local crafter.

  53. I love buying gifts that people collect. Through-out the year, I ask friends and family what they collect, and by the time Christmas rolls around, I know what to get everybody.

  54. i love giving at least one fun gift to the granparents. They love getting a kid kind of gift. Thanks!

  59. I know my boys would agree….our favorite gifts would be video games (yes, they have a gamer mom!)
    beckytag618 at gmail dot com

  60. I think the perfect gift (aside from the handmade gifts I get from my kids which I love more than anything) to both get and give are gift cards! Nothing like guilt free shopping!

  61. I like making custom gift baskets–everyone seems to really like them and it gives me the chance to be a little creative. 🙂

  62. I love giving people something they didn’t know they needed or wanted. Like my mom, she loves coffee but never thinks about getting special coffee to enjoy. I’d give her some basic Peet’s coffee beans and then find a flavored one she could enjoy like French Vanilla.

  63. Thanks for the giveaway…would love Santa to gift us with a beach house rental in San Diego next summer !

    senorpiero [at] yahoo [dot] com

  64. Pay the utilities and miscellaneous bills for a friend or family member for a holiday or their birthday. Also give them cash. Its not as complicated as it sounds. I am following, liking, joining and subscribing.

  65. I babysit and I really love when the people have the kids make something for me! I love receiving pictures and photographs of the kids because it is a tangible memory for me! I love giving things that I have made as well as things I found unexpectedly! Thanks for the giveaway!

  66. A couple of years ago, I bought small LED flashlights, the kind that have about 6 LED bulbs in there, and they fit easily in a pocket or glove compartment. I gave them to the men I work with and also my male cousins and my uncles. They were a big hit. They make great stocking stuffers, too.

  67. I love to give those bags of hot chocolate that you just cut open and let fall into a mug, complete with mini marshmellows.

Thanks for sponsoring the contest !

  68. One of my favorite gift ideas is making up gift baskets to give as a gift. I have done this for years and it is always appreciated when you take the time to select items you know the recipient will enjoy/use.

    longbarb1@aol.com

  69. One of my favorate things to give are gift certificates from our local Krispy Kreme doughnut store. Everyone loves them!

    ardy22 at earthlink dot net

  70. One of my fave gift ideas is to really think of something special that person loves and to look high and low on the internet until you find something unique. Sometimes I get a calendar, a mug, a shirt, whatever…but it is of that person’s special interest. I got my father in law a cool Formula 1 Calendar from Europe that you can’t get over here and it had all these awesome mini posters from all the races thru the years….
