The Klutz Book of Animation Tour – Stop #11

We are definitely fans of Klutz in our household!  My apologies because my post was supposed to be up yesterday, but I had a 24 hour flu bug and didn’t do much other than sleep in bed.  I’m feeling better today and Klutz was one of the first items on my list!

We’ve reviewed Klutz items in the past and we were excited to receive The Klutz Book of Animation, written by John Cassidy and Nicholas Berger.  The book is ideal for ages 9 and up.  You can purchase The Klutz Book of Animation online or in bookstores, retailing for $19.95.

The Klutz Book of Animation is a complete how-to treatment of stop-motion magic, from practical instruction to ready-to-shoot scripts. The software you’ll need is available as a free download, ready to use on any computer (PC or Mac). All you need to provide is a video camera, a computer, and a way to connect the two. Attached to the book is a piece of low-tech, non-toxic clay, ready to be molded into a million different heroes starring in your very own fantastic animated films.

Anybody with a computer, camera, internet connection and a little bit of creativity can create animated films for the masses. The Klutz Book of Animation is a how-to-guide for this art form. Step-by-step instructions show you how to create a variety of different classic stop motion special effects.  Watch the real videos we created here and then start making your own!

  1. My favorite is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It is the first movie that my parents took me to see in the theater as a child (obviously not the 1937 showing) and has significance as the first full-length cel-animated feature in motion picture history.

  2. I have and always will be a giant fan of the Road Runner…may Wile Coyote never catch him!
I luv Klutz and so do my kids.
    Wonderful giveaway, thanks!

  3. I love Klutz books, they taught me how to juggle and yoyo (about 15 years ago!) I’d love to pick these up and learn some new stuff, thanks!

  4. My favorite animated (not cartoon) movie is the Nightmare Before Christmas. I got to see it in the theater TWICE when it first came out!
