Prior to BlogHer, I received a most amazing and flattering email from a company who researched some of the most influential women voices on the web.  I was elated when I read the following statement: “Congratulations!  The Mommy-Files is on The Top 50 Mommy Blogs based on our analysis.”

Included in the email was a link to a press release including names of the Top 50 Women Blogs, Top 50 Mommy Blogs, Top 20 Food Blogs, Top 20 Men’s Blogs, and more!  I recognized many of the women I’ve come to know and love through blogging and never imagined my blog being included on that list!

Here’s a little bit from the email I received:

“Women are actually more engaged than men on the Internet, and they chart their own course. You just have to know where to look.”  But how do you know where to look?  How do you find out who matters, particularly when it comes to women bloggers?  So, In advance of next week’s BlogHer, Access Communications released lists of the most influential women’s lifestyle and mommy bloggers on the web — using a new approach to define and measure online influence.  This approach, manifest in a tool we call ABIE, extends beyond metrics like page rank and unique visitors per month, combining many different measurement tools to reveal a comprehensive gauge of online influence. You can find more info about ABIE, and our thinking behind the need for it, here.

After analyzing the women’s blog rankings we released, here’s what we found:   as women spend more time on the web and wield more influence, they also can’t be divided into neat categories like “mommy bloggers” so easily anymore.  The diversification of their content and engagement has given rise to a more singular group of online women — one that has grown both in stature and in influence as they blog about all topics from travel to technology.

Thank you to all my readers for making it possible to have The Mommy-Files on the list of the Top 50 Mommy Blogs.  Thank you to my family for their support and to the most amazing companies and representatives a blogger could ask to work with!  I am looking forward to the year to come, including Blogging Conferences and Blogger Events.  I look forward to the new friendships I will make and friendships I will grow through blogging.  Thank you everyone!
