Thanks to Lifetime, I had the opportunity to preview the premiere episode of the second season of “Drop Dead Diva.” The show premieres on Lifetime on Sunday, June 6th at 9pm ET/PT.  The season premiere features entertainer Paula Abdul (American Idol), David Denman (The Office), and Devon Gummersall (My So-Called Life).

Named by USA Today as one of the “fabulous female performers of 2009” and by Entertainment Weekly as a “breakout TV star,” Brooke Elliott will capture your heart with her winning performance as a shallow model-in-training, Deb, who dies in a sudden accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brillian, plus-size and recently deceased attorney, Jane.

At the close of last season, Deb was ready to let go of her past and embrace her new life as Jane.  But the unexpected arrival of Jane’s “secret” husband, Ethan (guest star Devon Gummersall), at her doorstep left her with more questions than ever.  To make matters worse, Jane may be disbarred after breaching client-attorney confidentiality when, against the firm’s advisement, she reported her client for fraud.  Faced with a new love triangle and the uncertainty of her career, Jane must, once-again, chart out a new future for herself.

“Drop Dead Diva” includes cast members Margaret Cho (Notorious C.H.O., The Ghost Whisperer), April Bowlby (How I Met Your Mother), Kate Levering (Cashmere Mafia), Jackson Hurst (Living Proof), Josh Stamberg (Lie to Me), and Ben Feldman (CSI).  Some of the guest stars for the second season include Paula Abdul, Chad Lowe, Ricki Lake, Vivica Fox, and Nancy Grace.

The series was created by creator/executive producer Josh Berman (Bones) and is executive produced by the award-winning team of Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Chicago, Hairspray) and Alex Taub (Eli Stone).  Check it out tonight at 9 pm ET/PT!

I thought it was a really cute show and I enjoyed watching it.  It was light-hearted and funny and I loved Brooke Elliott in the show!  I look forward to watching more of the episodes in Season 2 and will even be checking out the episodes from Season 1.  Thanks goes to Lifetime for this opportunity to review “Drop Dead Diva!”

I received a screener copy of the premiere of Season 2 of “Drop Dead Diva” to facilitate this review.  All opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.

I love this show as well. Jane proves that no matter what you look like or how you feel inside, you are still beautiful and can be confident with yourself. She is a great actress.
